Going out for a free Xmas dinner tonight too! Should be fun, then home for a few beers and watch the NFL till 4.30am. Tomorrow morning in work will not be fun
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I had a nervous breakdown, changed calculators, mentally beat myself up and now I am here to reveal all and get a grip. My 15 mins of feeling sorry for myself has been and gone and now I need to make amends.
Here goes to a hard but rewarding 2012.
Hi moneymakestheworldgoround, and welcome aboard,:T
You're comment about 'changing the calculator' made me laugh, did it help? :rotfl:
Good luck with your challenge0 -
FINALLY had my payslip, tomorrow is going to be and good and a slightly bad day.
After years of dodging the student loans company they have finally caught up with me and will be deducting a princely sum. However I work in a field where I only get paid for when i am working so I have a whole 10 days of holiday pay being paid to me as well. That's bumped my wage up nicely!
Still the xmas shopping has to come out of that and my friend is leaving for Germany at the end of December and I want to save up some money for a party dress as it's the only time in a long time all my mates will be together, it's also a combined NYE/Xmas and leaving party so I know a fair amount will be spent (I don't care it's Christmas!)
IT'S ALSO A 5 WEEK MONTH as no pay till 30th DEC :eek::eek:
Will update my total tomorrow when I know how much I can afford to pay

Helloooooooooooooo all, no actual debt busting today, but I did manage to get meself a new kettle for £3.97 instead of the £40 price tag, through a handy Mr T reduction, doubling up the clubcard points and a £7 off £50 spend
so I can now get rid of that manky one we have that burns my hand everytime I pick the bleeder up
Also am off to one of my very bestest friends for a cuppa and a chat tomorrow night, as im driving and shes got 3 boys its not going to be a bottle of wine jobby but I didnt like to go round empty handed so bought 4 bottles of J2O and a big box of aero bubbles for us to share for the princely sum of £4 :rotfl: did manage to spend a further £46 on other stuff at Mr T but im not entirely sure whatI know theres 5 boxes of cereal and 2 huge carton of blackcurrant and a chicken for sunday . . . . . what else did I buy???

I'm excited! I put down my full debt figure but thinking it would be a bit unrealistic to clear it by next Christmas, especially given the wedding to pay for.
But.... I spent a couple of hours putting together a spending/saving/payment pan together and, in theory, it's possible that we could be debt free by October 2012!!
I am cautious though as it was almost exactly a year ago that I said the same thing about October 2011.... However, knowing how good we will have to be saving for the wedding (and we're al ready financially committed so no choice), my hope is that we can just maintain the same level of saving, just paying down debts instead.
We're considering taking a late honeymoon in December/January 2013 anyway, so it would be amazing to be debt free then.

That's great news HelenPie, to hear that a plan is do-able is a big incentive. You've just to put that theory into practice and you'll be laughing all the way to the bank :T. Just remember to throw in a few treats so you don't get disheartened.
Good luck.

Wow, it has taken me 10 mins to catch up with everyones posts!!!
A nsd for me today and a free book in the post,
It helps reading everyones stories, like most on here I got in a bad way with money from when I was at uni, and it spiralled from there when I took a loan out for car and couldn't keep up with the payments, I have now realised where I went wrong and am making changes. Its hard but has to be done I am 28 and want to eventually have my own home one day and not rent.
This feels like an AA meeting where we all come together!!

Bless ya, I am having a serious thought about my career as my place of work are making people redundant next year! All though the job I do has been classed as a keeper at the moment! I don't think any one is safe at the moment.March GC £27.86/£3500 -
I know it's not really been an MSE day today but I just have to tell you about the amazing toys I bought for my friend out in Afghan! He's serving in the Army and I decided to buy him a childs air hockey table, big connect 4 and snakes and ladders!!! It'll cost a lot in postage but he's such a great friend and deserves to have a bit of fun out there in between putting his life at risk.
Glad to hear such great stories of debt busting and I think I'll be quite busy tomorrow since it is payday for quite a few of you! I'm so excited to see your totals paid off go up!!!! xxxNew Debt Journey: Pay off £19,622.91 by 30th April 2015 :T
Debt at Highest: £43,073 :eek:0
