Hello all, just found this thread and would like to join! I'm already on the payment-a-day thread (which, by the way is addictive and makes such a difference if anyone wants to check it out!) but really do need to get my bum into gear... I paid off so much in the first year but this last year has not made much difference at all (my tax changed at work so take home is a lot lower). I am hoping to get some temping work on my days off but, again, need to pull my finger out.

The only major flaw in the plan of debt-busting is a possible trip to Hong Kong... I know I should just say no but I don't think I can! I also struggle with saying no to my friends all the time as I just get depressed and feel left out, which doesn't do me any good at all... I do miss more things now than I did and definitely spend less money on them, but they don't understand when I say I have NO money.

I could also do with losing a stone, or maybe two, but can't get myself disciplined. I have this week done a huge shop, to meal plan a bit, as my boyfriend (known as MrS) is off work for 2 weeks after having his tonsils out yesterday so I took the opportunity to do a bit of suzy-home-making and force us to eat a bit healthier.

My total at the moment is £6492 or thereabouts, my snowball is updated already for next months payday so this is the closest figure I have.

Hey psychopathbabble and welcome to the team! I've been thinking of becoming a PADder for a few weeks but not sure what to pay on NSDs, how do you decide how much to pay off?

Anyway, I'll add your name and amount to the 2nd post!

I have also had to learn to say no to people but I know it's only temporary and my friends also know this. We do things as MSE as possible, there are so many things out there that require little or no money to amuse you! The thing that keeps me going is that I will allow myself some treats within my monthly spence which doesn't go on debt busting. However, after Xmas 2012, all the money I get paid WILL BE MINE!!! This is an incredible incentive to keep saying no when you picture making that final payment off your last debt. xxx

    Welcome lemonpopsicle
lulalolly what did you start with? You put down the amount paid off / amount started with. So if that was your first payment it would be £376/£7900 or if it's the total from your sig it would be £376/£8276

There is no minimum to pad, it's entirely up to you! 1p upwards! I don't manage to pad every day anymore but it still makes a big difference.

Yeah my friends are aware but they still don't really understand, I think one or two of them haven't really grown up properly yet so to them I'm just boring and tight (especially my housemate, she spends money like water). Their day will come! I'm just glad I started working on my debt when I did as if I started now, it would be a heck of a lot harder with my wages. I am a lot more careful now, but tend to do something spontaneously which then throws my whole budget and I end up using my allocated car monies fund. I must stop doing that as my mot is in january!

  • Ulp... dither... wriggle...

Right, can I join please? I am intending to get rid of the vast majority of my debt this year and with a little encouragement might manage the whole lot.

As in sig but here for the record - current total £11,195.
