Welcome to the newbies (she says when not even in double figures on post count lol). It's awesome knowing we're all in this together :)

I've finally managed to list some items on ebay! On more than one occasion I wanted to just give in (especially when having to call up ebay because entering my password wasn't enough security for them ) but I got there in the end!

Plan for tomorrow is to take back the bedding to Asda and hope they'll give me some money for it. I'm not holding my breath, but need to know before Thursday if they will or not so I can do a 3 day listing on ebay if they won't :D And hopefully get another NSD.

Am going to try and work out whether my calculations were correct in terms of what I owe as well. I know from my credit report I have a few debts who aren't chasing me. Is it best to contact them, or leave them be until I've cleared some of my others? They're already defaulted (some have been for years) so I'm not sure what point there would be to contacting them other than to say I plan on paying you back at some point in the next 12 months...what does everyone think?

I know what you mean, Ebay is NOT userfriendly in my opinion but is a necessary evil to debt busting...

As for approaching the companies who you have old debts with, I'm afraid I don't know what to suggest. May be worth asking on the main DFW forum for advice...? xxx

Oh my goodness…this is one fast moving thread….so much positive focus and energy:dance:

As is the norm for me I’ve spent ages gazing at budget sheets working out where I can make little tweaks and pinches to help speed things up a little and in so doing noticed that between now and Xmas 2012 in addition to what’s owed on the cards I’ll have to pay a massive £1484.74 in interest _pale_….a sobering thought to say the least and motivation in itself to get shot of this wretched noose round my neck!!

I’ve not much to report other that the fact that today has been both a NSD and NCD (no chocolate day) ;), if tomorrow can look the same I'll be happy.

Maybe start saving 20p's or something and these can all be coming off your debt total. It's just as important to make the small payments as the big ones. Good luck and keep us updated with how you're getting on and what you're doing to debt bust i.e. ebay/amazon, surveys, meal plans, coupons etc xxx

  • Hello all, just found this thread and would like to join! I'm already on the payment-a-day thread (which, by the way is addictive and makes such a difference if anyone wants to check it out!) but really do need to get my bum into gear... I paid off so much in the first year but this last year has not made much difference at all (my tax changed at work so take home is a lot lower). I am hoping to get some temping work on my days off but, again, need to pull my finger out.

The only major flaw in the plan of debt-busting is a possible trip to Hong Kong... I know I should just say no but I don't think I can! I also struggle with saying no to my friends all the time as I just get depressed and feel left out, which doesn't do me any good at all... I do miss more things now than I did and definitely spend less money on them, but they don't understand when I say I have NO money.

I could also do with losing a stone, or maybe two, but can't get myself disciplined. I have this week done a huge shop, to meal plan a bit, as my boyfriend (known as MrS) is off work for 2 weeks after having his tonsils out yesterday so I took the opportunity to do a bit of suzy-home-making and force us to eat a bit healthier.

My total at the moment is £6492 or thereabouts, my snowball is updated already for next months payday so this is the closest figure I have.

Well congrats on the NSD and NCD! I managed to bag the same by swapping chocolate for fig rolls... And that total in interest is definitely sobering but as you pay each debt off that amount will shrink and by xmas 2012 you will never have to pay them interest again xxx
