    Hi all

Just thinking about the joint weight loss challenge idea...

There are a couple of weight loss challenges on here:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2952358
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2178109

What do we think? Do we want to join an existing one?

I'm just concerned that we are already on page 22 in just 7 days so if we start adding in a weight loss part of it then:
    1) it may not be relevant to everyone and
    2) may make the thread ridiculously long and
    3) will be very hard for me to keep up with updating everyone's debt busting totals due to the sheer number of posts and
    4) someone is going to have to keep track of the weight loss somewhere.

Can you please let me know what you think? xxx

mf0u1098, you're probs right. I vote for keeping this thread about paying off debts by Christmas next year, and anyone who wants can join other threads for weightloss.

    Like the weight loss thing!

I've made a big decision and decided to train for a half marathon. It's a cheap sport once you've got the trainers, and I'll be cancelling my £28pcm gym membership which will MORE than compensate for them.

Side effect of that is I'm going to have to watch what I eat, and watching what I eat means SPENDING LESS MONEY! :j

p.s. new total today, got paid so the others will reduce in the next few days too...

That's fantastic news! I did the Great North Run a few years ago along with some 10k's and have really missed running. I was considering doing the New Year Half Marathon but I've not got enough time to train so will be looking at some races in about March time. I still have over a stone in weight to lose though so it will definitely help!

Well done on paying some of your debt off 4.5% is fantastic!!! :T:T:T

    Yep, makes the most sense.

I've made a couple of positive steps today - signed up for a First Direct account which will give me £100 in a few months, and used my CC points to order £50 of Sainsburys vouchers.

How long can I make the vouchers last? :)

Thanks, I'm aiming for the Chester half and then the Great North later in the year! I'll have to get some tips from you, I'm a complete beginner!

I'm with First Direct too and they are fantastic! Got my £100 as well so BONUS!!!

With regards to the running, I really struggle with morning races as I always have a dodgy tummy in the morning (IBS) so it's difficult to get enough food down me. I wish they did afternoon/evening races!

Best thing I'd recommend is to take things very slowly to start off with if you've not exercised for a long time. Walk for 3 mins then jog for 1 min and repeat 4 times. Do this 3 times a week with a long brisk walk on a Sunday and gradually build up. Doing it this way reduces the risk of 1) injury and 2) giving up cos your muscles hurt too much from overdoing it.

    Hope this helps! xxx

You have all inspired me to start meal plannig and freezing meals! I've never done batch freezing before as my mum used to do it and it never tasted nice once frozen. If I am to be entirely honest here, they never tasted that great fresh...:rotfl:

I'll go through the freezer and cupboards with my mum and see what we can come up with as they are bulging yet we keep buying more!

I used to love the pie maker she had and we made loads of them, might see if I can get a cheap one on ebay or something and make some more. Any tips on what is good/not good frozen so I don't make loads of food that then tastes yukky afterwards...?

Anything with lots of water in I suppose. Never tried to freeze cucumber but there's a first time for everything!

Courgettes go a bit funny, other than that nothing I can think of off the top of my head! But I suppose different people will find different things wrong with things. It's a hit and miss type of situation I think!
