  • Dp people find Ebaying cost-effective? I listed a load of my DD's outgrown clothes, they were all Boden (I was a spendholic, what did you *think* I bought? ;)) and went for good prices, but by the time I'd paid the Ebay fees, Pypal fees and hauled my backside to the post office, I only cleared about half of what the listings had made me. It just seemed like a lot of faff for not a lot of profit.

recurrent are your items selling for less than £10? I've not fleabayed in awhile, but I always add an extra 20-50p to the postage to account for fees and the envelope.

  • Like the weight loss thing!

I've made a big decision and decided to train for a half marathon. It's a cheap sport once you've got the trainers, and I'll be cancelling my £28pcm gym membership which will MORE than compensate for them.

Side effect of that is I'm going to have to watch what I eat, and watching what I eat means SPENDING LESS MONEY! :j

p.s. new total today, got paid so the others will reduce in the next few days too...

I did a half a few months ago. I really needed to change what I ate, but never did! I'm doing another 10k next April and determined to beat my time that I set this year by 20 minutes!

You need to make sure you eat properly or there is no point training as it just gets undone (as I've found out)

Does anyone know of a really good recipe for a Bhuna or Balti...? I'm lactose intolerant so cannot have creamy/milky things and don't like curries too spicy so these are nice medium strength ones that I like but would like to make homemade ones and freeze them. Oh and I must tell you that I absolutely cannot stand coriander...

I get paid in 8 days... I want to update my total now!!!!

  • Hello!

I'd love to join this challenge, I have £13,210.36 to get rid of.. which has been holding me back for simply ages. When i think of the interest i've paid on it

    So count me in!!

Not 100% sure I'll manage to wipe all of it though as unexpected bills keep cropping up (note to self: must learn to budget for the unexpected?!) but anything towards my target will be a huge bonus. Soo looking forward to the new year :j

  • Hi Posh! Welcome
I am feeling very proud of self. I have just listed 8 things on ebay ( i try not to do more than about 8 at a time as I get overwhelmed with the posting/packing/being snarled at in post office) and amongst those things are virtually unworn Nike trainers, a rockabilly dress BNWT, 7 decent nail polishes incl 2 Nails Inc (BNIB) and a Chanel, a topshop leather handbag . Phew!
I have also offered to do a pick up from the airport at 9.30 tonight- for which I get £30-and I dont finish work until 8.30 tonight so already out and the airports about 45 mins away so perfect- also along with the £25 in my purse that should see me through this week and the weekend!- little top up shop on Friday also using the match the difference Sainsburys vouchers that my MIL gave me- about £9 worth whoo hoo.
Im getting quite into this ebay listing lark- although as a "new seller" my paypal is held for 28 days or until the buyers leave positive feedback which is a total PITA BUT also makes me save it not just transfer it to bank account to get swallowed up! I am not really a new seller, i just got caught out with that STUPID star rating thing and banned from selling on my old account A8shats- so I had to set up a new one and I have all these daft restrictions however it is keeping me on my toes in terms of posting on time and making sure really good quality etc.

Right I must go and grab a cuppa before climbing into work clothes and going to sort out my lovely Fat Fighters ;)

  • Re. meal planning - it's my middle name! I usually check out the deals on mysupermarket and then base my meals round good current offers. Don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but I plan to buy a slow cooker in the new year sale (and a slow cook cook book)......great for saving time, and tenderising cheaper cuts of meat in casseroles etc.... and you can do so many things in them, not just casseroles!!!! Freeze the left overs....hey presto :T

jakes-mum I didn't know about the top & bottom shelf thing, will defo start doing that from now on, makes a lot of sense.

Ok, if I have to meal plan then I'm going to ask people to start telling me what they're having so I can get inspiration hehehe. Tonight I'm either having rice & peas, or I might do myself pasta (not bake this time though) with red onion, chopped toms, mushrooms all fried in butter hehehe. OH taught me this and it was nommy

I actually think it was the all fabulous Mr Martin Lewis :smileyhea who first mentioned about the supermarkets product placement. They place all their most expensive (biggest profit) items in your eye line, the ones with the nice eye catching colours to get you too buy them, all their own brand value stuff is usually on the bottom shelf and the cheaper brand stuff on the top :D and as Mr Martin Lewis :smileyhea says, always check the middle shelves as sometimes they do chuck a good promotion on the expensive branded stuff that makes it work out cheaper than their own brand :T

As for batch cooking, I made a HUGE stew on friday for the 4 of us and had enough left over for DH to have another night :) so into the freezer its gone :D I also dont buy the foil tins from the £1 shop, i keep all the old icecream tubs and use them :rotfl: I have a cupboard dedicated to them :rotfl:

And I have to agree 'long live the slow cooker!!!' :rotfl: I buy all the cheap cuts of beef and use them in stews/casseroles. I even bought chicken thighs once that were in the reduced section, chucked them in with usual stew bits and the meat was sooooooooooooo soft after plus it just fell off the bones :)

The other thing I always have in my freezer is blackberries . . . Mum and I go round in the blackberry season, pick as many as we can off the hedgerows and then freeze them in batches . . . . everytime family want a warm pudding . . . wel lout come a batch of free blackberries and a nice crumble is made :D (oh also do double crumble topping and freeze half of that as well :rotfl:)

Fleabay has been amazing today grand total of all my sales has been £71.24. I'm hoping that the remaining six items go for over £20 so my road tax will be free. Here's hoping =)
