Kerri_dfw - thanks for that challenge! I think it will really help, especially as I'm trying to lose weight just now, so there are currently two excellent reasons for not buying chocolate and sweets!

I'm going to update my first post with a list of challenges to give people ideas, will have to be when I get home from work this evening though.

Mf0u has asked me to setup a weekly challenge for everyone... I will post the challenge on Monday lunchtime each week. Then it will start each Tuesday at 1am and end Tuesday 12:59am (I get confused by midnight timings.)

So this weeks challenge will be:

    No buying sweets or chocolate:

This is going to be a tough one for me, but an excellent one to start with as we'll probably all stuff our faces over Christmas with the stuff. So.... this week I challenge you that when you want to buy a bag of sweets or a choc bar, you put that money towards a debt. Whether it's 35p for a bar or £5 for a tin, whenever you're tempted pay it off a c/c or overdraft =)

*depending on credit companies you might need to save this all up until the end of the week until you can pay it off due to minimum payment limits, please always check if there are charges for overpayments. Have fun!

Kerriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii   my doctor will kill you!! Now im in a right dither! OCD says got to do the challenge! doctor put me on a darn chocolate diet 6 months ago to maintain my weight!! grrr hope I have enough choc bars in the fridge or im gonna have a serious meltdown :o

Welcome fairyface, and well done for facing up to your debts.
There's no need to be ashamed here, we are all in the same boat.
You have already identified an area of over spend and joined this challenge so you are on your way, that's the hard bit. So keep it up :-) .

jakes-mum, luckily it doesn't start until tonight, will you have time to pop to the shops to stock up...? I cannot believe I'm actually trying to get someone to buy things!!! If it affects your health then don't do this challenge jakes-mum, there will be another one next week to join! Maybe you could substitute the no chocolate for no buying a magazine or something non foody but that will still be a challenge for you? xxx

Ok DH insisted on opening his sealed pot today, which was his 'no smoking' tin and only had £1 coins in, for about 4 months we put the equivalent of a pack of fags in every 2 days (he was supposedly a 10 a day smoker) but as we ran into finance problems I had to stop and was just chucking them in sporadically, anyway . . . . he had £260 in there  he felt really bad that he had been smoking that kind of money away and really helped his resolve as he has been craving this last week since he was laid off.

Well I took £70 and paid off his store card so thats now £405/£8806.89 :j :j :j aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand 1 card paid off :T:T:T

Keep us updated with what you're doing to debt-bust i.e. Ebay/Amazon, competitions (I can give you the link for the thread in the forum), which challenges you're going to join etc. If you have ANY questions then please just ask and we'll be happy to pass along any knowledge or tips we have. There are some great challenges on this forum that can be done in conjunction with this one (and our lovely new mini weekly challenges thank you kerri_dfw!!!) so should keep you motivated xxx
