    Hi everyone

This is my first time posting, have been lurking on DFW for about a month and tackling mine and OH's debts. Started reading this thread today and just had to join the challenge- is very motivating and inspiring :j

    Our current debt is £9,793.81

We have paid off loads in the last month by doing lots of money saving stuff and also overtime at work. Am so proud how we are finally tackling this debt! However, our debt will be added to next year but in a good way- me and OH are getting married in August :D Am so excited! Have got loads to still pay for so are going to add to the debt but am hoping this thread will keep me focused and we can reduce our current debt and tackle the new debt from wedding in 2013. If I hadn't found MSE, we would likely get into real money trouble with the wedding so am happy to be here! Looking forward to a money saving and fabulous 2012 :p
  • Well done for finding out your true debt total Shell!

  • Hi all, nice weekend??
I've had a poor weekend in terms of moneysaving.
BUT determined to turn negative in to a positive I've identified our 'spend triggers' and hope to take steps to avoid them next weekend.
    • Poor weather - Make a list of activities for poor weather days, other than shopping.
    • Boredom - same as above really, try to pre-plan the weekend.
    • Children i.e baby needs feeding so go to a cafe, then toddler needs feeding so go to another cafe!!! - Soooooo try to feed children at same time, take a flask and snacks with us.
    • Children's bribery eg buying toys when they are bored - take a good selection of toys, snacks. Spend less time in the shops and do more children friendly activities.
Can anyone help with activities that are both child friendly and poor weather friendly please??

I also slipped up with my smoking but that's another story and today is not only a new day it is also a new week so onwards and upwards!!!
    Sorry for rambling!!

    Hi Kerri_dfw,

    What's Suma?

I bit the bullet today and paid some more money off my BC - £164.32 :) I want to pay £400, but can't commit to that in one go. Bite sizes chunks over the month seems less painful!

Annoyingly I forgot my lunch today - the first time in months! But, nothing I can do about it - just got to make sure that's the last time! :p
It's a cooperative started in Leeds that I found out about the other day when searching for cheaper ways to bulk buy food. Turns out they're fair trade, organic, lower carbon emissions, eco-friendly, vegetarian/vegan, no harm to animals/humans... all my favourite ethics but when I compare against the supermarket it's the same price as the supermarket branded stuff.

I'm going to have a look for a local cooperative too though, but I've so far had all the food from Suma using super saver amazon delivery =)

dd1981, shellygsxr welcome aboard the good ship debt-free-christmas =)
