  • Evening all, I've been awol for ages cos I've been at my mum's for Christmas. Got paid today tho, and my new total is:

    # 011 # £835 / £3895 21.44%

Thanks for all the support from everyone here, without it I would definitely have way overspent this Christmas. Instead, I've saved enough money to enjoy NYE tomorrow and not have a massive new credit card bill next week. Will be back for a proper catch up on Monday.

  • After hitting a bit of a low over the last few days (spending too much over Xmas hasn't helped!) and being frustrated today that my slower than slow laptop has been kicking me out of eBay when trying to list items to sell, I have just had a nice 5 mins online.

I have just changed my energy supplier for next, saving me roughly £40 a quarter! Add to this I clicked on the links thru MSE and I will now receive £15 cashback when all is confirmed mid Jan.

Hi all. I am currently RAGING with anger and upset so I hope you dont mind me ranting here. My 14 year old DD went off to a sleepover last night and while she was there she posted a picture on FB of her "overnight kit" which consisted of two cans of coke (I gave her) a hairdye (i bought her and said her friend could dye her hair) and a flask. I immediately went on FB and asked what the flask was for but deleted it as I had an inkling..........fast forward to her coming home and immediately asking f she could go to the park to meet some "friends" dunno about where yoy are but here in the South West it is peeing down and FREEZING. I said n and who are you meeting and it was "boys- friends of friends" we said no she cant go so shes in full sulk when I asked why she'd taken the babys flask out for the night. She flew out of the room, grabbed her back and legged it upstairs. Husband gave chase, got the flask off her and BINGO. RUM. RUM!!!!!!!!!!....

    Ahh Idris,

Dont feel you've failed, honestly. I was such a goody two shoes as a child, my parents never got a letter from school or an irate parent on their door from me but when I was 15 I went to the next town where my mates lived and there happened to be a veeeeeeeeery lax pub and downed 10 holsten pills  was so drunk the taxi driver who drove me home left me in the cab and knocked the front door for my dad to half carry me up the path into the house  I actually have no memory from that moment on other than I really needed a drink of water and trying to focus enough to grab the glass in the cupboard. Seems my dad was screaming at me but i couldnt hear him (yes I was reallly that drunk :o) it was nothing to do with bad parenting and all to do with the thrill of being served in a pub and looking cool in front of my friends :o

I also had the good fortune (according to my mates) to look older than I was and admit I popped down the local off licence at barely 16 and bought them a bottle of 50/50 mad dog (oh we had nooooo taste in those days!)

Im only 32 and my oldest is crawling up on his teens and im ready for it. Im not going to blame myself when he comes home drunk for the first time as its part of pushing the boundaries, ill just deal with it and let him feel the god awful hangover the next day . . . well after he's puked his guts up through the night . . .

Its not a parents fault when I child discovers drink, its a part of growing up, every child wants to look 'cool' and act grown up, regardless of whether their parents are drinkers or not ;)

A very late good evening everyone

I have been out all day with my mother who took me to blue water in london (my all time favourite shopping centre :D) its an hour and a half away but soooo worth the severe dip in my illness that will hit tomorrow :o

I bought 2 pairs of jeans, 2 tops and a bra that actually fits :D spent £58 out of my christmas money so still have £52 left :o and my lovely mum not only treated me to lunch and dinner, but also bought me the coat in Next that I spotted and fell madly in love with but couldnt afford to buy (it was £90 reduced to £45 ) she said its a very early birthday present rather than giving me money that I wont spend :o I was also extremely good and bought DD 2 pairs of trousers and 1 zip up jacket for the grand total of £11 again with cash . . . but not my birthday money which was doubly good.

DH nearly fainted when he saw all my bags and refused to believe that they all contained clothes for me :rotfl: So I now own 3 pairs of jeans that fit and dont have holes in them :j :j

Im absolutely shattered now though as thats the longest day ive had in over 2 years, even though I did the entire day in my mobility scooter it still takes alot out of me concentrating on steering and stopping as bubble headed teenagers just jump infront of me (as happened numerous times today :( because im a foot lower than people its like I dont exist :()

I do have some more money to pay off a CC but I need to find the bill and I def wont be till monday/tuesday so i'll post it then :)

    Very Important Notice
I have now set up another thread for this challenge as I needed to have more posts at the beginning for our ever growing team and also because I wanted to add posts with information for newbies about the site and hints/tips from kerri_dfw. There is a post with grand totals for each month so I will be totting it up for December tomorrow!
I also wanted to put in a weight loss post for those who wish to track their progress on this thread although it cannot take over the thread as the main purpose here is to support each other in paying off all our debt by Xmas 2012.
The link to the new shiny thread is here, I hope you enjoy it! If you can think of anything that you feel should be added or you have an idea of something for this thread then please just PM me.

I will update all your totals and new members onto the new thread.

Please do not continue to post onto this thread anymore...
