Wow such a lot of people on this thread

    You're telling me! ;)

I am running out of space very fast for new members and I'm expecting quite a few joining just after the New Year so I am sorting out a new thread (continuing this one, sort of a part 2!) so that I have enough posts at the front for the new members, information posts etc all at the beginning... Trying to figure out how to set it up before it goes live but I can't seem to work out how to do it without allowing people to post on it before I am ready.

    Oh well, I'll keep trying...

Came across this and loved the idea. Have a lot of debt so if I can pay off 20k by Christmas 2012 that would be great.
Starting from tomorrow so I can include this in my New Years Resolution. Gonna plan to do a complete overhaul on all my bills. Chase money that is owed to me. Add everything I don't need to ebay. Return things that I don't need from Christmas and have the receipts for. Constantly remind myself to use the word 'No'. Go on a diet to save money and lose weight (another much needed task) at the same time. Join freebie sites to get loads of free stuff sent instead of buying it. Enter more competitions (only did a few last year) may be I can win some stuff.

    Any other ideas.

I'll update on New Years Day with how far I get - maybe I'll make some progress
  • Right - I have decided that to treat ourselves for all the debt busting we will do this year we are going on holiday abroad next year. But I will pay cash for it and not put it on the CC. Will keep me extra motivated!

Rubbish isn't it Sharron? .......I've given up on Swag Bucks and other survey sites. They take to long for little reward! :(

It is, it's blooming hard work, I work 50 hours a week as a childminder and my husband is also self employed - his donation to the housekeeping is basically what I'll be using to pay off the debts so even though we both work very hard it's essentially one wage that we're living on. We also devote at least 12 - 15 hours a week to Scouting so Swagbucks will probably go by the wayside when I start back at work on Tuesday. What's your job? How come you have to work away? I would imagine that's a mixed blessing at times ;)

Oooh shall I get my passport ready...? ;)

Only messing, sounds like a good idea DorsetGirl! It will definitely teach you to save up for things in cash rather than put it on credit ready for when you are debt free! I'm trying to get into that mindset now too so it will be easier once all my debt is gone not to just reach for a credit card if I want something like a holiday and instead save up first and pay it off in cash. If I cannot get used to this then I am doomed to forever being a DFW!!!

Sharron, I am a live in carer for a spinally injured man. Basically I am being paid to be a "mom" Care for him, clean the house, cook, wash clothes etc etc :)

It's good at times but I do miss everybody back home :( But also has it's bad points when the kids leave crap everywhere! I get mad inside but I can't say anything because they're not my kids!!
    In debt no more!

Ok I take it back - I was envisioning a nice, quiet, clean and tidy hotel room with your own t.v. and a lovely deep jacuzzi bath :rotfl: Couldn't have been more wrong could I? You have my admiration, I was my Mum's carer and it's very hard work xx
