Dorsetgirl Merry Christmas, it would be wonderful to be totally debt free this time next year but even those of us who don't think we'll quite manage it will be so much further on and motivated after sharing 12 months with our wonderful friends on this board.
Psychobabble WOW! How committed! A Payment on Boxing Day - that's impressive!
We had a lovely day yesterday at my in-laws, I'm so lucky that we get on so well. I had taken what felt like a risk with their presents and had made them both hampers (about £30 each) and was quite nervous but they loved them! My (grown up) children all loved their presents and I felt very virtuous - I'd stayed in budget, resisted the last minute urge to go and buy more plus I managed not to overeat (I'm carb sensitive so it can be tricky at times).
Today is my turn so it's a party tonight (which I did go over budget on unfortunatelybut never mind it was only by £50), so it's cleaning and tidying this morning and cooking this afternoon :A
One question though - I have been given some money plus some vouchers -Amazon, Love to Shop and M&S also I have £45.00 in points at Boots plus I've earned £15 on SBs. I'm really tempted to hit the sales and buy Christmas presents for next year with them? If I do this though I will have to lie to my family because they will go mad if they find out. What would you do?
My debt is going to go up in January because there're a couple of big spends that are needs rather than wants I have organised a 15 month 0% free card for purchases and will hopefully be able to make up the extra payments over the year.
Welcome to our newcomers....you're in the right place to kick some serious debt busting butt :T0 -
When you say they will go mad in what respect do you mean? That you are spending your gifts on them?

SHarronj this is exactly what I do! I always start my christmas shopping in the january sales, if your worried about the spending christmas present money on presents for others write down how much you are spending of your presents and then take £10 out of your bank each month until you've got it back. That way your getting your presents cheap and also spreading the cost
Happy boxing day all, hope you had a lovely day yesterday, we didWent to mum and dads and had a fabulous chicken dinner and came home with 3 days worth of food that my mother had made but they wont eat :rotfl: Kids are currently on their way to their aunties and im feeling a little bit lost to be honest
so used to my shadow that I cant deal with her not being there
Want to go to the sales as its DD's 4th birthday on 16th Jan and while shes not here is the best time to go get her gifts but DH was unwell last night, too much rich food I think bless him so it looks like a day watching tv for us . . . maybe tomorrowSPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -

That's such a good idea - I can put the money into an account and save it up for something I do want instead of having bits of money to spend in all different shops...although I do want a black cardigan so perhaps I'll keep an eye out for one of those :j
Have a great day everyone xx0 -
Afternoon Everyone
I hope you all had a nice day yesterday. I got £40 so I have put that towards paying off some more debt. I have tried to write down all the money presents I have spent on debts and bills over the years so when I'm debt free I can pay myself back but to be honest have lost count. So my total up to today is
