:rotfl: Transferred the £16.72 from last week's challenge to my credit card and it took the balance to exactly £3,820 (pure coincidence). I thought that would make some of the more obsessive in here smile ;)
Unfortunately they've just applied this month's interest so ruined it now :(
Well done Helen :) Best of luck with this weeks challenge.
Sorted my interest on CU loan and paid a fiver towards the cc today... so now my total is 224.22/6492.82 (3.45%!)

Applied last night for a top-up of £560 on the CU loan at 12.7% to pay half of whats remaining on the 27% cc which hopefully means I could get the rest paid off in the next 3 months or so.

    I have a dilemma...

Me, my housemate and a few friends went out on Monday night. There was 6 of us left in the house yesterday morning and we decided to go out for lunch. I went out first with my housekeys as my housemate was scared to (one of our friends accidentally fell into and broke next-doors fence, this would be funnier if they didn't already hate us!) so I'm not sure who was last to leave but when my housemate came back to try and get ready for work she realised she didn't have her key. Unfortunately, it was still in the lock! As it's a new door, if the key is in the door, you can't open it from outside with a key. We ended up having to call a locksmith which cost £55. I can't really afford to pay towards it BUT feel bad not doing so. Now, I don't really feel like it's my fault as I had my own keys and wasn't the last out.... do you think I should give even just £10 towards it? MrS gave a fiver towards it as housemate and her bf didn't have quite enough cash on them to pay the guy.
To solve this dilemma you need to answer one simple question. Would you expect your housemates to pay you if you left your key in the door on the way out and then had to call a locksmith?
    Simples :)

No money saving today :( and it's a spend day :( and I haven't made packed lunch in ages :( but I am going to a vegan potluck this evening, does that make up for it? Buy/make one dish get to taste lots of different dishes :)

  • Hi

I have been reading this thread for the past couple of weeks and have finally decided to join (if you will have me!!!).

I'm not sure that I will be able to pay off all my debt by Xmas 2012 but I am going to do my best, anything is better than nothing!!

Mine and my husband's current debt is £18000 split over 4 CC's however I have been lucky enough to juggle some around so nearly half of this total is currently on 0% deals.

How is everyone making extra money to pay off debts?? I normally try and pay over the minumum each month and any extra if I can but our income varies month to month as my husband is self employed (this is the main reason we are in debt because of the recession but touch wood his business seems to be on the up again). I work full time but it is shift work so I do have spare time to do stuff. I have thought about getting a part time job but as my rota changes week on week this is not really practical. I am going to list some stuff on ebay over the next couple of days but has anyone got any other ideas on what I could possibly do from home. I am quite crafty and have made cards etc in the past but trying to sell them is the hard bit as no-one wants to pay that much for them so I end up making a loss.

Anyway, I'll stop going on now. Well done to everyone so far and thank you for inspiring me to join this challenge xxx

    Helloooooooo Twigs

welcome to the gang, Mf0u will be along forthwith (when she can sneak on when her boss isnt looking) and allocate you a number :)

Alot of my debt paying money has come from ebay, ive had to be really hard with myself and the family and say 'do we use it, do we need it, is it essential?' and if the answer is no, then on ebay its gone. Ive actually just sold our bureau as it was basically a glorified paperwork dumping area, ok all my paperwork is now in a big plasitc bag but thats a lot easier to store than a bureau was :rotfl:

Also go over to the £10 a day challenge and join up with them, they have loads of ideas for making extra money and you would be surprised how easy it is to make £10  savvy shopping is a must, and teaching yourself that just because its got a 20p sticker on it doesnt mean you actually have to buy it (that was my big problem :o)

Sealed pot challenge is good as well (can you tell im a member of all these :rotfl:) and obv surveys etc are good for extra spending money for prezzies to save your own. I also do Swagbucks, which is giving me a £5 amazon voucher a week which im saving for next christmas, if you want to join I can PM you my referal link, of the lovely people on the £10 a day challenge also have referrals, as does the referal thread I would have thought :rotfl:

I've won a competition and it means I'll get £400 in Love2shop vouchers ... yippeee! That means then I'll be able to pay off more of my debts with actualy cash as I'll be shopping with vouchers when the time comes. This challenge has made me save them rather than just going and "treating" myself like I've done before with competition wins.

Sold something on ebay and the buyer still hasn't paid yet but will be able to pay that soon. :)
  • Thanks Jakes Mum, will definately be having a look at those threads!!

What is Swagbucks, never heard of this?? Yeah if you can PM the referral link that would be great xx

Welcome Twigs, I do a lot of surveys to earn vouchers. Fleabay is another one, or making money from a hobby such as craft fairs. We have mini-challenges that run weekly to try to cut down on spending, or add a bit of fun to the debt-busting. There's a list of challenges/tips on post #10 that should give you some ideas.

    Yay!

Have just come to an agreement to pay my o/d off by jul 2012, big load off my mind and bank were VERY helpful :)

Also yesterday made a new agreement to pay off barclaycard, that'll take longer but it's a step in the right direction.

Just need to sort out my n*xt and v*ry accounts, they are not responding to me at the moment, except with threatening letters that is!
