  • Morning diaryland!

Woken feeling very much positive again, long may it continue!

Have just made £5 overpayment to my Sainsbury CC. Trying to alternate as have arrangements with most with either reduced or no interest negotiated so don't want to rock the boat so to speak.

Still waiting for final totals after November payment so I can work out what has been paid off total debt balance this month.

Nothing else to report, have a day off work tomorrow to look forward to with OH but other than that life is mundane at mo work, sleep, eat....and the cycle continues. Still i'm happy and that's what matters :)

    Have a good day all,

    Karen x
  • Just realised I had me a No Spend Day yesterday :j:T:j

Sadly not the case today as need to nip and get some toothpaste and as no car will have to be the local shop :(

    It's Friday!!!!! :j:j:j

Had a lovely day off yesterday. We went to test drive some cars yesterday, found two that we really like. Also some good news, OH's parents are going to loan us the money for car so we don't have to take out any finance or pay any interest - we're very lucky for them to be so kind to us and help us. It really is a weight off of both our minds.

OH's Dad is very anti the financial institutions and the banks and this is coming from someone who used to work for them back in the 'old' days when you used to know your bank manager - just doesn't work like that any more ;) So, obviously we have to pay them back but it's a huge weight lifted off of us in the sense of taking out further credit, not something we really wanted to do. I won't be adding the car debt to my totals just yet.

Another £1.00 overpayment to my Sainsbury CC - didn't manage to log on and make a payment yesterday but still trying to do it as much as possible. Will update my total in a bit.

Other than that nothing to report....oh other than that I woke up with a mahoosive coldsore on my lip yesterday :(:(:( I truely look like a monster and it hurts....poor me!

  • :0( on the coldsore. That’s great news about the interest free loan though, what car do you think you will get?
All the pounds add up and like you say its better than nothing, it will all add up to great things.

Thanks inthegreen.....coldsore is driving me crazy today :( We have decided upon Ford Focus - OH is going to call the garage today to confirm and then we'll go down and finalise it over the weekend. It's a lovely car, big enough for us and our hobbies (lots of outdoors stuff!)....also big enough for the dog (next years purchase) and eventually all being well it'll become our family car :)

Forgot to say, very MSE ways last night cooked chilli for tea and batch cooked enough for OH to have for lunch at work, taken together with some bread rolls = OH not having to buy any food today and having a healthier lunch rather than grabbing on go :money:

Nothing interesting to report on MSE front. Trying hard not to spend any money but what with Christmas and the wedding fast approaching it's proving difficult - not that I begrudge any of this spending obviously but when you finally get your head focused on clearning the debts it becomes a mental battle :rotfl:

I can't wait for my final statements to come through, should arrive before end of next week so I can note what I have cleared/paid off since I joined my challenges :)

Plans for today - to get through the day without spending any money! Trust me right now that's a challenge in itself

On a nice note, we're hoping to pick up new car at the weekend - will be nice to have something new....we've been trying to run our cars into the ground so to speak, were hopefully they'd both last until after the wedding but it wasn't meant to be. Will be sad to see car no 1 go actually - it's done us proud.

Right best get on with some work, lots to be doing!

Gosh today is flying by! Don't think i've ever been so busy of late!

Mini to-do-list for Fri - Sun
    • Investigate ebay (never done it before!)
    • Take nephew to cinema (xmas treat)
    • Sort out online savings pots (virtual savings)
    • Finish Christmas shopping if possible
    • Wrap/bag etc all Christmas presents ready for delivering
    • Work out budget for December payday
    • Cut all card for wedding invites ready to print/prepare next week
    • Write a small to do list for wedding bits - make some final payments early to get out of the way
    • Pick up new car Sunday morning after Church :)
Think that's it, I have a feeling it's going to be a spending weekend but then hopefully that'll be it cost wise until the New Year. I think we have enough food now to see us through until Xmas eve when we'll be at respective families etc so don't need to do massive shop apart from bread, milk etc. I need to do some batch cooking for OH to take to work as lunches/dinners.

I need to figure out what I need to set up savings wise online - for now I know there needs to be a pot for wedding bits (i.e my nails, treats etc), christmas 2012, bdays, car expenses, general savings, holidays....a few but i'm planning on topping these up gradually so that they build a nice little sum over time and then i'll be on a roll. I may even pay a larger amount into each this month just to get the ball rolling on each of them.

Nothing else to report here, need to think of more ways to make/save money. Thinking seriously about second job although wedding planning mainly done by me as OH working 6/7 days a week...not sure where I shall fit it all in. I'll work it out....

    Anyway enough of my wafflings....
