I've got a vague recollection of the rag and bone man. When I told my kids about him they thought he was employed by e-bay!

I've still got one, he either comes past on Wednesdays or Saturdays still on a horse & cart - just gave him an old stereo that didn't sell on ebay then sat on freecycle for 3 months & didn't even get a nibble & a broken microwave oven that someone threw over my back fence.

I'm always surprised that he doesn't look like Steptoe though
  • Watching wrestling on ITV on Saturday afternoons with Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks....
Duran Duran, Wham (when George looked so hot....), Fleetwood Mac
Then in the late eighties/early nineties, Bros, New Kids on the Block, Kylie and Jason (remember Scott and Charlene wedding, I remember watching it during my lunch at school), MC Hammer
The annoying star trecking song...... (can't remember exact name, but I'm sure someone must remember it...)
Can anyone remember Mork and Mindy, I loved watching that......
Saturday Swapshop, Saturday Superstore (with Mike Reid DJ, I think, can't remember exactly)
Big hair, shoulder pads, white stilletoes, ra ra skirts, puff ball skirts....
Recording top of the pops on my cassette player (did anyone else do this or was it just me....)

I could go on...... I'm 33 in four weeks by the way......

I didn't record top of the pops, but every sunday I taped the charts, then I'd carefully write out the words to each song so that I could learn them off by heart and sing along to the songs on the school bus. The other kids thought I was so cool cos I knew all the words!
  • Definately when one of the teachers where I work, gave me her dob as 1981.... I was in High School then (well we called it seniors but same thing).

We also had an Alpine man - friday mornings, bright green cream soda!! And I can remember taking my great uncles beer bottle back to the outdoor and getting to keep the sixpence/2p and then spending said 2p on an assortment of fruit salad, black jack, licqourice strips, candy cigarrette, and flying saucers. AND having change!!!!

Having ds who's 7 ask "were you alive in the war mummy?" Well the Falklands one yes but unfortunately he meant WW1!!!!!! he'd seen something about bi-planes and trenches.

And queueing for hours to get into see GREASE.
