Has anyone ever bought from www.for-christmas.co.uk?

I am looking to buy some of the Disney Classic DVD's and came across the site:

https://www.for-christmas.co.uk

Their prices are excellent but am worried it's too good to be true!

Anyone have any experience of this company?

Thanks

Lou

Never EVER buy from a website that has no contact address and phone number. Even worse they use AOL for their email address.

Anyway the site was only registered on the 18th of October 2011 and it's based in Thailand. That means everything will be poorly made fakes with photocopied sleeve notes.

    Hi

Thanks very much for that - I wouldn't have had a clue where to look to try and find that kind of info. I will steer clear!

On another note, if anyone knows where to find legitimate copies of the Disney Classic DVD's - Cinderella, Snow White, Little Mermaid please let me know as I am struggling to find them!

    Thanks again.

These are the lowest prices I could find from what I would consider reputable sellers but they're still expensive I'm afraid.

Base.com have Cinderella for £18.19 including delivery.

This UK based Ebay seller with excellent feedback has The Little Mermaid for £21.22 including delivery.

This UK based Ebay seller with excellent feedback has Snow White and the Seven Dwarves for £17.99 including delivery.

I bought a disney DVD from a site called winkbox on sunday the 4th 0f dec ,for our granddaughter they sent me and email saying 2-3 weeks on delivery this was not stated when i bought the dvd, when i tried to contact them there was no telephone number or address, only an email address that they dont seem to want to respond to, i am a bit concerned after hearing it may be a scam, and checking on my paypal account the only way they would accept payment it shows as transaction going to a company called PRAMOT PORNSAKUNPHAISAN, i have opened a case with paypal straight away rather than wait. i did contact them via email twice but no response came. some one added that they were trading under (for christmas) and were based in thailand. when i went in to their website (about us) it just states about share prices in new york. so if you have bought something from this company i would open a case now rather than wait, better be safe than sorry.
  • To Dianatimbomb,

Yes!, I just had the exact same experience, and have just registered with moneysavers in the hope to make more people know about it. I also bought some DVDs (3) on Monday the 5th, and read the FAQ's and all the information said that the movies would either come the next day (which did seem too good to be true for the delivery costs) or 3-5 days, which I thought was reasonable. I order a lot online, as I'm sure most posters do and am pretty well aware of scams etc. I had a look around the site and the reviews (clearly fake in retrospect) made it seem fine. Unfortunately, I didn't really take on board that the email was an aol one, nor that there was no phone numbers until After I bought the items. Then I received an order email, with No information in it save an order number (which means nothing). The next day I received an email saying the DVDs were now coming from an "international distribution centre" (yeah, right) and would take 1-2 weeks "possibly more" (e.g. don't expect them ever!). I emailed the company using the onsite message board as well as in reply to their order emails. And, of course, nothing. I then, did what you did and immediately opened a case with PayPal saying it was unlikely the company was legitimate and I wanted either confirmation it was a real company and the DVD were coming OR a refund. It's now in process in the paypal "resolution centre". I have few doubts that I will get my refund, but it has wasted my time and I now have to go out and look for the DVD's again. I should have realised it was a scam given the great prices, but PLAY.Com has been known to have similar prices, so I thought it was perhaps a limited time promotion.

What also angers me is that PayPal should not have accepted the company as legitimate (and therefore able to use PayPal) to begin with. Surely, the company name (or is it a man?) PRAMOT PORNSAKUNPHAISAN and the fact that they have No phone numbers, are not based in the UK but taking UK orders, and use two personal emails as their contact should have been all PayPal needed to know they are not legit. I would have thought (hoped!) that setting up a PayPal account for a business took a little more regualtions than is clearly the case.

In any case, DO NOT BUY FROM WINKBOX, if you do, open a case with PayPal immediately. What I can't figure out, is how they are planning to benefit from this? If it's via Paypal and no one receives their DVD's paypal will refund and they won't get any money...plus they will have their site shut down. Not much of a net gain as far as I can see.

I hope you get your money back soon!

  • Oh !!!!!!. I've just "bought" two DVDs from winkbox.com. I consider myself pretty savvy but that's nearly 20 quid I don't expect to see again.

IMPORTANT - Always create new passwords. Good job I did otherwise this scam website would have had my email address and PayPal password - and that's all they'd need to log into my PayPal account. I suggest this may be how they intend making money out of their website.

Suspicious behaviour of winkbox. co. uk so far:

    1. The email I received had both my username & password shown - not best practice.
    2. They only process payments through paypal.
    3. There's not much on the net about winkbox.co.uk
    4. As already mentioned, their email addresses are @aol.com & @hotmail.com and there's no phone numbers.

  • Further to my last comment above, I have raised a PayPal case and immediately I got the following reply:

"Your seller is currently unable to respond to this dispute. By escalating your dispute to a claim, you are asking PayPal to review the case and decide the outcome.
PayPal will review the transaction details and may contact you for additional information. We will make every effort to resolve this claim within thirty days.
PayPal will review your communication with the seller and may contact you for additional information. We'll make every effort to reach a decision within 30 days.
If this claim is decided in your favour, PayPal will make every effort to recover funds from the seller. We will investigate this matter fairly and, if you win, recover whatever funds we can."
  • DO NOT BUY FROM www. for-christmas. co. uk . co. uk OR www. winkbox. co. uk . Unfortunately, I have been conned by this website. I have been through alot of what some of you have. I ordered a few dvd's through the for-christmas website on the 10.11.11 only to be told by e mail that it may take up to 2 weeks. I still haven't received any dvd's and it's now the 9th of December. I've tried to e mail on numerous occasions. Winkbox is exactly the same as for-christmas aesthetically, even to the border with Minnie & Mickey. If you pay PIYATHIDA MANIWAN it is definitely the same person behind it. I think it's outrageous, that someone would take easy pickings on the general public when times are hard, and above all, at Christmas time. The dvd's are childrens dvd's, have they no heart ? I have reported this also to paypal. I noticed on paypal, there was another e mail address coventry 1980. yahoo. com, don't put the spaces in though. Don't know if this helps. Feel reluctant to try this e mail after reporting the seller to paypal. Hoping this helps prevent someone making the mistake I made by buying from them.
  • I have stupidly ordered 3 dvds form winkbox
cant believe i was so stupid!! i have now raised a despute with paypal which has been escalated to a claim. when i ordered i didnt even receive a confirmation email, nothing. i have tried contacting them but obviously have not had a reply!!
i paid with my credit card through paypal but they can't do anything until the 30 days are up
  • For info I have reported this as a fraud at (please ignore or remove the spaces):
    actionfraud. org. uk/report_fraud

Of interest is this post on a site ( clothnappytree. com /forum) where the lady in question has actually received her DVDs although they were fake.
