The Wow Factor has launched!

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes on our new ‘WOW Factor’ and are now ready to roll it live. It’s been tested by a select group of volunteers so we hope you like it.

What's WOW Factor?

The WOW Factor is a ratings system to show how popular forumites think each thread is. Each thread gets a WOW! Factor image with number in the WOW factor column. Essentially the higher the number and the darker the colour the more popular the thread is. Simply click the ‘WOW’ sort button at the top right of the forum board and it will list the threads by popularity.

For the self-proclaimed geeks who like technical detail, the description from our techies is "it's a measure of the number of thanks the first post in a thread has received compared to other threads in the same forum, where new thanks are weighted higher than old ones."

Click on the WOW number to show a graph of the thanks that contributed to that thread’s WOW factor over the previous 14 days.

As part of its introduction we're also removing the See things differently bar.

Which forum boards is it going on?

It’s currently going on the Bargain Buys section including sub-boards, but excluding the eBay and Competitions Time boards.

We’ve also included it on Report Holiday Deals and Restaurant & Eating Out Deals.

However, we may add or remove other boards in future if we feel it would improve Forum usability.

Hi Andrea, on the comps board there used to be 3 different coloured button, to sort out the posts etc, but now they are not there??

Oh, but they were great, you could sort the comps into newly posted etc, which made things easier, will they be put back up?

Click on the "Newest Thread" text (not the arrow).

Thanks Ian but not sure that's working right as it's still shows old threads that have been bupmed, it's not showing the newly posted in any type of order, unless I'm missing somthing.

Thanks kittycatty. Please can you private message me an example of a bumped thread that is appearing in your results when you click "Newest Thread". If there is a problem I will fix it

just quickly ian there is no newest thread in the comps board it's newest post, maybe that's why it's not working lol

So can we have the new thread button then pretty please

Just to confirm. Please can you look in the top left of the screen. Specifically at the top of the third column. The one containing the thread titles. Can you see it there on your screen?
