Hi guys,
I wonder if one of you could take a look at my log and help me.
This was fifth time lucky trying to get the log as I couldnt access the hosts file at first.
All my drivers and virus databases are up to date, and I have gone through the speed up your pc thread and followed all the steps on there.
I am not very techie though, so you will have to be gentle with me:o

No expert, but I found I used to get the BSOD through software conflicts while running vista. Not very helpful, but it all stopped when I upgraded to win 7.0
-
A BSOD should give you the faulting application with error code, if you can get them post it here after trying Blue Screen View.
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html0 -
Is an error message displayed when you get bsod?
More likely to be a an error on hard drive ( software problem ) or failing hard drive.
However there are masses of issues that could cause bsod.
RAM problems being another culprit
Run a disk check
open computer - c: drive - properties - tools - check for errors ( make sure all options are ticked) it will want to run the check on the next restart, accept and continue. It will take some time for the check (hrs) so prepare for that.
If ok I would be tempted to return to factory condition but be prepared to reinstall progs and backup all your files to another hard drive.Nudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0 -

Run a disk check
open computer - c: drive - properties - tools - check for errors ( make sure all options are ticked) it will want to run the check on the next restart, accept and continue. It will take some time for the check (hrs) so prepare for that.
If ok I would be tempted to return to factory condition but be prepared to reinstall progs and backup all your files to another hard drive.
I shall do a disk check and see what shows up:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -
Anything you are doing when the BSOD occurs? Any changes to the hardware?
I personally would start disabling all those processes on startup, many of them aren't needed and some may be causing conflicts. cccleaner is a good tool for this.
If you want to take a more hands off approach, the Windows 7 forum is a great place to start. You just follow instructions and upload a zip file of your BSOD logs. The experts there fixed mine in a couple of days.0 -
Ok, don't worry, these things take some time.
There should be a key sequence on the viao that restores the pc, the vista cd that came with the laptop? but unless you back up your documents you will lose them. If it is your hard drive then a back up will be essential anyway as if it fails you are likely to lose everything.
From experience and reading line 20 in your hyjack this i suspect you have malware that has not been completly removed or has caused corruption.
Anyhow a restored system should not give software issues so if the problem persists you have a failing piece of the pc, most likely the hard drive itself which will need replacing.Nudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0 -

yes I know I know I should have
Only thing I can think thats changed is, last week laptop froze completely and started, what I can only call "screaming" loudly. I struggled to switch it off even with the button
I may possibly have been watching the boxing online;) but I did my usual virus scan start after and nothing showed up.
Although I am beginning to wonder if its something my daughter is doing when she is using it. She is only 10 so its not likely to be anything dodgy:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -
Take a note of any messages after disk check - if windows has had to fix sectors then get a new hard drive, otherwise it should be ok,
as with everything it is a process of elimination . Possibly a friend has a portable harddrive you can borrow if needed?
bsod is serious so a backup of your folders is a priority, even if you decide to take it to someone to fix they may not do a backup. If your folders are small you may be able to back up to a writable dvd or 2Nudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0 -

so many things could have gone wrong, is it getting too hot? Air channels clear of dust? Are you using the laptop where air can get to it ie not on the bed sunk into a duvet.
As the hard drive is the most likely componant to fail I aqlways look there first and then continue into other componants if i find it is ok.
Unlikely to be daughter!Nudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0
