Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 15th November This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

GIVE ME STRENGTH. Been up since 4.30 with DS1 constantly flapping about, screaming and grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Think the worst thing is that I know that it will only get worse as the day goes on.
Made a lovely pizza for tea last night (only I ate it!) - loads left, so tonights tea will be pizza and home made chips. Will do an instant whip for pudding as they seem to insist on it.
Am getting hair cut today - lady coming to the house as its cheaper, and I need to tidy up and keep a lid on my temper. Hugs to all xx
Lou - eat something poppet x

Morning Esmf and all who follow,
It is so dark here this morning, I feel like I have got up an hour too early!
It is a lot warmer in our hallway as last night I managed to block up the gap under the door that the wind blows through.
Tonight DS has rugby practice and DD1 has ballet so tea will be pot luck from the freezer.
Farmerswife I don't go out shooting, our rabbit came from the local farmers market, but I have a friend who does and she regularly brings me a brace of pheasants.
Hugs to all that need them, glad that you are eating a little Lou, keep on trying, we are all thinking of you.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all,
Why oh why does my brain insist on waking me at 4am and go into overdrive, so many things go through my head at that stupid 'o clock.
BM & WM going. I've loads of ironing to do and plan to clean all windows inside. I must get the lawn mowed, atm it's covered in white bits of insulation that has been sawed to place on the roof. Another dry day expected here so DH & DNephew hope to get the roof half way done. The Solar panel system is being delivered so I'll have to make room in the study for it as it's not being fitted until next Tuesday.
Hm pizza for DH & DN's lunch, cheese scones to bake and a bit of shopping to do.
Off to catch up and grab another coffee. Hugs to all in need, stay safe and warm.
UOLYPOOL, Hope you and yours are ok. x0 -
Morning esmf, hope ds calms down. Moorhen what are you doing with the rabbit? I want one but don't know how best to cook it.
OH just left for work, and I have to leave soon too. Tesco shop came yesterday with loads of things missing and crazy subs but I ended up getting free tea bagsToday I have 9 hours at work then 4 hours of uni but it doesn't seem so bad when I come home to full cupboards, clean house and all the washing done. If I'm at uni until 9 I'll go home via waitrose and pick up some reduced yummy bread or *hopefully* some of their cupcakes for 10p again!
Hope everyone has a good day and it's not too cold, got to keep our veggies alive!! Oooh I keep seeing fruit tree offers in papers at work and i'm so jealous, I just wish I lived somewhere long enough even to have a blueberry in a plant pot!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Morning all
Al the usual chores done, I'm just struggling through a bowl of porridge before I go to work, yesterday we had 2 people out sick, one at a funeral & 3 on a training course, lets hope a few of them make it in today.
I closed my office at 10:30 as I couldn't do any more work than I already had to do, I reopened at 2:30 & by 3 I was overwhelmed with work again so I might close again today.
Hubby & I had an early night last night, we were both in dire need of some R&R, he'd spent the whole day dealing with difficult tenants & things such as 'My TV's stopped working' & 'There are flies in my kitchen' & 'I've not got a parking space, get me one'.
Let's hope we both have a better day today.
Smoked haddock & poached egg for tea tonight.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Didn't get a chance to read or post yesterday. Dry and cold here this morning. Have got the big dog here at the mo, he really is wonderful therapy, sometimes I just put my head on his shoulder and talk to him, I find him really calming.
Went to DS school yesterday and spoke to the head of pastoral care about the bullying, am pleased to say it's being sorted and he came home a lot happier. Just seem to be feeling really sad at the mo, have been loosing a really dear friend to alcohol for a long time and it just seems to be a long line of losses over the past few months. I know there's nothing I can do about it until she decides she's had enough, so sad to see the effect it has on her and her children.
Am on a late shift today, so need to get organised. Just ticking along OS wise and taking each day as it comes.
Lou hope you're ok, you need to eat even if it's a biscuit.
Have a good day all

I am tired today, I have to walk to work, so will leave at about 8am, i think it takes about 30 mins to get there, so will be early, but it's better than being late.
OH has a busy day, quoting for a job at the moment, then he's going to the other side of basingstoke to work on the slurry tanker. Hopefully finish the digger job tomorrow and that will be cash pay. which would be lovely!
Soup for lunch for me today, and pasta bake for dinner.
Have a lovely day all!

Morning everyone
Cloudy, dark and damp and chilly here this morning. DH up and off to work at quite early o'clock. Work yesterday was a steady flow of customers so day passed quite quickly, I'm at the other office today so will be a change and will see some other colleagues who I haven't seen for a while, be nice to catch up.
Dinner last night was smoked sausage pasta with creme fraiche sauce and dessert was HM pavlovas with fruit and cream for those that wanted them. Did manage to put a load in the WM and stack the DW so kitchen not too bad this morning. Dinner tonight will be quickies as DS1 has rugby training. DH has Thurs and Fri off this week as we are going away to a caravan meeting - I will join him at some point of Friday afternoon once i've sorted the boys out and got them to grandparents to be looked after. Be nice to get away in the van as feels like its been ages, well it has I suppose, haven't been away since end of Sept as caravan was in for warranty work for over 3 weeks.
Just working until lunch tomorrow then on days off, but need to keep on top of everything have a few busy weeks ahead. Checked through the xmas prezzies already bought and realised I have more than I thought so not too bad!
Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.

Planning on doing some Christmas wrapping and waiting for aa couple of bits to be delivered for DS3 he has asked for a slinky and a rubik cube (apparently everyone has one)
Nothing else much really, wrap up warm

Morning All
All unpacked, only washing from the journey, as all done before I left, and only take appropriate things for the weather back and forward, and not needing shorts/vests here for a while :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Found enough food via freezer and what we brought back for yesterday, BM just finished so nice new bread for breakky. Asda (for a few branded bits) and Aldi for the rest after a hairdressers trip, will call her shortly and see if she can fit me in, didn't bother while away, and my natural hi-lights need a litle TLC :eek::eek::eek:
Need to get into the 'van want to make the fitted sheets fit the mattress which has a corner off, before we go out tomorrow, but it may have to be a "manage until next time".
Lou so pleased you will try my suggestion, just hope the drink is the non-alcoholic type. Hope you are in touch with your DH & DS and telling them how much you love them, and want them back with you soon. I'm also following your blog.
Will raid the freezer before I go to check out what I have, and we need to decide on what we are going to eat while out in the 'van.
Rabbit - I have no problem with them, skinning, cooker, faffing with the bones, but just a word of warning, it is very fiddly, and if you are not happy with that, then look from some boneless rabbit, often in supermarket freezers, or we can get this on the market from time to time.
Take care all - ((hugs)) all round - DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0
