Windows will not boot but no error message since lid slammed

Hi I would appreciate some assistance.

My laptop - Toshiba Satellite A300D15B - won't boot up Windows 7 but displays no error messages.

THE LID WAS SLAMMED VERY HARD and since that event we have had this problem.

If I can't sort it out myself with help and assistance, I would like at least some idea of what the problem could be before I go near a repair place.

do you get any signs of life from the screen? If not then you might have broke the screens connection and back light may be the only thing that works or not.

Any other noises can be heard like Hard drive whirr or clicking in a particular pattern?

Try tapping the F8 key repeatedly every 1 sec as soon as you power it on , My neighbour's tosh often wont power after /sleep/hibernate
If it gives you owt select start windows normally and wait for it to check the disk ~ 1-2 mins

No unusual noises hard drive seems to be whirring - screen is alive - fan comes on - windows startup screen just hangs and then goes blank

Followed instructions and still same - windows screen hangs and then goes blank but still back lit:o

Windows 7? Did you get the Toshiba Upgrade? 32 bit or 64 bit?

Yes - I have a disk which was downloaded but it is an official copy with number and all

If you have already updated to SP1, you should use this Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1 image. Save it to a working PC and burn the image to disc(You can do so by downloading and installing ImgBurn(No need to install the Google Toolbar. Remove the relevant tick). Burn the Image to Disc. Use this as a guide(skip step 2b).

You can then use these instructions to assist you with an automatic Startup Repair and going forward, to run chkdsk.

If you really can't wait, you can try it with your own disc.

Thanks you so much - No I can wait so will follow your suggestions tomorrow - I've been looking at this poor old laptop for a couple of months and this was my last resort before heading to pay a person who knows these things. My knowledge is limited so just think IDIOT and you will have my measure!
