Feeling much cheerier this morning, maybe I just needed to get it out of my system? Although I can feel it lingering at the back of my mind, I shall not let it takeover :)

I've made a small purchase this morning of a 6" x 24" quilting ruler that I will need to make my quilt. It cost £15.90 which is quite expensive for a ruler, but if I can use it to make things I can sell then it shall pay for itself.

Last night I managed to turn 14 cardholders inside out and today I need to iron them before top-stitching. They do look rather pretty and have contrasting fabric for the inside :) I think they're all C4th K1dston fabric too, so they should sell to the yummy mummies if I can market them appropriately :) I've also got the hang of this crochet malarky now, so need to actually make something with this new skill.

    So tasks for today:

    1) wait in for AF order
    2) iron cardholders
    3) go for first ever smear eep!
    4) topstitch cardholders
    5) crochet something
    6) washing
    7) wash up dishes
    8) tidy bedroom
    9) put away washing

  • aww kerri i second what everyone else has said. I often isolate myself without even realising it...and like you i'd like a friend that has similar interests which have changed considerably over the last year (since LBM like pinot says i no longer want to 'keep up') i can't seem to find anyone though that is interested in stockpiling, bargain hunting, boot fairs, meditation & reiki lol! Instead the friends I do have round here think I am the local 'odd ball' but good for a laugh! Nice.

And did I miss something who's Robert??

p.s my hubby is going away today so i expect the only conversation i shall have this week is with a 2 yr old, 3 yr old & 13 yr old. God help me now!

    Hi Kerri

Just caught up with your post and also another MSe friend whose diary I read and I think as Mrs P has said it has a lot to do with us always trying to count every penny.

Glad to see you are looking chipper today and well done on the list. My list has taken a bit of a backwards leap as I went back to work today but hope to get back in line for the weekend.

((((((Big Hugs)))))) for you honey, take care

Thanks for the lovely words everyone :) I really appreciate it. I've been having fun today and feel much happier, although I've had a spendy day. I've bought 10 coin purse frames, 50 keyfob pieces, 10m of 1 inch cotton webbing, 2 cushion fillings, and 10 magnetic purse clasps for about £30 altogether. I know that's a bit more spendy than I should be, but I am going to make keyfobs and some coin purses for the craft fair I'm going to do next month :D

I've hurt my neck :( I think I've hurt a muscle as I can't move my neck to the right eep, it's been going for a few days now but now it's much, much worse. I think I might need some ibruprofen :(

I'm in the middle of cutting out the first colour fabric for my quilt (fabric arrived today and I'm stupidly excited!!!) The mental arithmetic of 3 x 1 where 3 = 6 + 0.5 for seam allowance and 1 = 2 + 0.5 for seam allowance is confusing though and I'm trying my best to be as economic as possible with how I cut the fabric so I don't have lots of random sizes left over. When it's finished I shall post up a picture.

DFW robert is mr downey jr, I was watching sherlock the other night :D and of course I will post photos of the cardholders, although I'm not overly happy with them at the moment.

NRA, I hope the first day back went ok, I will pop along to your diary shortly for a catch up :) I wouldn't worry about the list though, mine hasn't got done as the fabric took over ;) but there's always tomorrow :D xx

Aw Kerri sorry to hear you were feeling down ((hugs)) - I also agree with what others have said, DF can be a bit isolating as you're always balancing that with socialising. I've often buried myself in studying but it doesn't necessarily help so I like the meeting people at craft fair plan - I think it would be good to make opportunities to meet people as well as keep yourself busy and I'm sure you'll find lovely people to hang out with. Maybe it's better to have a mini-meltdown so you can see what you want to happen than to plug along not acknowledging things, so now you can make a plan. I'm not in the city very often any more, otherwise I would be round at yours for sewing lessons!

Ok, so I've not been on MSE very much today, but I have been keeping myself busy and this makes me happy. My quilt is going to be huge oops! I've just worked out before the bias it's going to be 88in by 88in. I think it might not be for the drunk either, here's an idea of what I've done so far (x2 of course). Will catch up with everyone in the morning when I'm less sleepy xx

Hmmm I can't move my neck today, I've badly pulled some muscles on the right side and don't know how to fix it :(

ISA opened for this year, 2yrs fixed @ 4% and I will pay in more than the £10 I paid last year honest :)

Hmm...so today has cost me lots of pennies! £55 for a parking fine because the warden got there at 2.01pm and you can't park there 2pm-4pm, I got stuck on a call and got there at 2.08pm :( Oh well, can't park there so lesson definitely learnt, next time will hang up the phone and move the jolly car!

AF order has arrived so I have lots more food now, including some fruit, crisps, bononbs, cake mix, cookie mix, biscuits and I forget what else but it looks yummy.

£1 has been paid to the c/c, and I've realised I don't have enough backing fabric for my quilt so I've gone and made another $70 order (probably about £40), however I have a cunning plan to make my money back. I'm currently making lots of lovely goodies (coin purses at the moment), that I shall sell at a craft fair on the 19th May. My sister might even come up with me so I don't have to sit there for 8hrs on my own which will be nice. We can take tea and biscuits with us.

I'm going to sell the coin purses at £5 each (the purse frame costs £1.89, the fabric is £3 for 1/2 yd and I don't use that much). I think for the craft fair I shall make some bags, some purses, some keyfob wristlets, and some cardholders. Although I shall need to get some business stationary before then, need to think up a shop name to sell under, setup a website and blog to advertise etc...

I'll pay myself back for the fabric so I then have money for fabric again (so far I have spent £40 on the quilt fabric, £50 for the most recently fabric, £30 for the bits I bought yesterday = £120 so far eep!!!). So I shall have to sell lots to make my money back. But it will keep me busy in the meantime and give me something to while away my time whilst the OH is away, and I really enjoy it too. Although, it now has me thinking that one of the rooms in the flat I'm going to rent in Cardiff will have to be a craft/sewing room, with a lovely big craft station (big table with drawers in), a set of shelves with fabric lined up like books are, and maybe an industrial sewing machine if I can sell enough things to pay for one ;) Oh I can dream.

Oh and the coin purse pattern I used followed this one, if any sewers reading this wanted to have a go :) : here

Anyway, today marks another £100 milestone. I am now £2400 in debt, this is amazing seeing as I can remember totting up all my debts 18 months ago and it coming to around £6.5k, I'm on the homeward straight now and shall be paying off another £100 when my expenses get paid in (hopefully tomorrow!)

But in the meantime I've made this...
