My sister should be her own tv show, she is a nice girl but she has a bit of a backwards view on things.

I'm dreading payday, I'm calm, collected and in control of my money now but there's always that inclination to go mad when I have a large sum of money come in as I just want it gone and out of my account. Not sure where this idea came from but it's definitely the binge/purge psychology. I'm really hoping that the weekly spend challenge and the grocery spend challenge will kick this out of me this month and I won't be living from one payday to the next anymore. Fingers crossed!
Oh so it's not just me who gets confused at having too much money then? :rotfl: I still worry that I've forgotten something when I seem to have too much left. Starting separate pots really helped though as it means I can hide money away and not see it in the current account!

Ooh I'm in a whirl of excitement, just ordered OH's kindel that I've been saving up all those vouchers for
I've already spent the £31 from GMT as that was a cheque, I think it went on petrol tbh. Plus the vouchers for the case for the one he decided he didn't actually want grrr. Anyway, I ended up with £51.51 in vouchers on my account today, I called him up to check which one he wants and it was the £149 one eep! I did a quick search and found a refurbed one for £79.99 although it doesn't have 3G but he doesn't NEED that so I bought it yay. In total I paid £28.48 for something that cost £149 so I made a massive saving of over £120 how very MSE of me.
I've been searching high and low for a discount on olive oil, I've just come across Mr A or Mr W Filippo olive oil & virgin olive oil @ 40p/100mlSo this weekend I'm going to buy up enough for 6 months supply of those. I'm surprised that the virgin oil is the same as the olive oil as it's much higher quality. Hurray for mysupermarket.
All of this price searching has made me realise I have no idea how much things cost, I normally just go and buy whatever I need. I've found myself going "I am not paying 50/100ml for oil!" Which I then laugh at.
I've transferred everything into it's relevant pots £158.75 into annual spend, £12 to lloyds, £10 to 2nd purse, £500 to Vanquis and I already feel like I've spent all my wages (this is a good thing as means I won't go crazy). My spreadsheet is fully updated and I know exactly what's left in my b/a for the first time in ages. I've decided that for every rainforest voucher I get then I will transfer the amount of the voucher to my 2nd purse, this way I am keeping track of the saving
I called my sister this morning and offered to share a stockpile spreadsheet with her and my father, so even though they can't afford to bulk buy, they can buy the items from me at the discounted price. She was quite happy with this and I'll ask my Dad what he thinks when he comes back from Germany.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

The case I got him was for the new 7" fire, so I need to get him one for the keyboard now grrr. Is that any good for you? He's told me to fleabay it, just a shame it doesn't fit my pad as it's a nice leather one with bits so you can stand it up.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Hi,
I'm pretty sure it's 133/299 code in Argoose @ £12.99 Have a look and see if it's the one you need. My DD's is the new smaller version and doesn't have a keyboard. Will get DH to check later when he gets in and confirm. If it's the right one and something you'd be interested in swapping, let me know. What colour is it? xEverything is ok in the end. If it's not ok, then it's not the end

Daily Update:Well today has been weird!
Good points:
* I've been paid which means reducing my debt
* I've allocated everything to pots/budgets and updated my spreadsheet
* I went round the SMs and didn't buy anything I didn't need
Bad points:
* Still really bored in work and really need to just be out of there already
* Spent wayyyy too much money
* Still feel hungry even after the Mr MS meal for 2
Really good points:
* Made a spreadsheet of all the SMs offers this week
* Shared said spreadsheet with MSE
* Started to understand how much things costs, i.e. olive oil should be less than 40p/100g
* Didn't spend any money that wasn't already allocated to a pot so didn't actually spend anything I hadn't budgeted for
To explain... I shoved all my money into different pots/budgets today and I've been updating my spending diary. I bought the OH the e-reader but it's refurbished and I had vouchers so saved mahoosively there. Bought contact lenses but that's out of my annual pots budget so no overspend there. Took lunch to work so not tempted to "treat" myself to lunch out like yesterday. Knowing the prices of things in other shops meant that when I toddled round the 4 SMs locally I knew I could get the items cheaper elsewhere so knew not to buy them there. My eyes have been opened SMs and they're never going to close again!
I've also learnt that olive pomace oil is olive oil made using some kind of chemical to get the rest of the oil out. So I shall be sticking to extra virgin ta very much. I introduced a colleague to TCB and she's now addicted, although forgot my referral link... nevermind.
I've cleaned the kitchen, walked the dogs, and just need to put away the washing, cut up the rolls I bought so I can freeze them, and to have a shower and I'll be finito for the evening.
Why am I still feeling a bit panicky about the fact I spent money today?Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Ok no worries, worth a try wasn't it. I just had a look at the fire case and it's more like the type DD will need. Her case has the gap for the keybpard that she doesn't have:p
Well done on all today's achievements, you've been mega busy/productive:T
Don't worry about the spending. As you say you had it all in pots. I think your panic may be something to do with the fact that (using myself as an example!) you plan so far ahead for payday and what it will mean...more organisation, discipline and closer to your goal...that when it actually comes you resent spending any of it, or regret it when you do:( I got a couple of bits yeaterday that I knew would have been a few pence cheaper elsewhere...BUT I wasn't elsewhere, so going anywhere else would have cost money, more money than just getting it where I was:rotfl:but somehow I couldn't shake that feeling.
I got about £9 from sales of clothes at the next-to-new shop and used some of it to get DD1 a t-shirt and jumper. She needed both and it was cheaper than going to a shop but for some reason I felt like I shouldn't have done it because I was mentally ofsetting that money against the Mr M bill or the shoe repairs.
I had to get into perspective that some things are necessary and that I have done well, compared to how I have been in the past, not even thinking about spending. I'm sure you can relate to that:rotfl:
Sometimes you just need to have a little blow out, you'll have got it out of your system now and anyway you can't spend anything else, it's all accounted for.xx
Everything is ok in the end. If it's not ok, then it's not the end

Thanks HP your pearls are definitely wise and I can completely relate to all of that. However, from Feb I won't be looking to payday as I'll be on weekly budgets and who will know when payday is
I'm also realising how much of what I thought was "needs" were actually just wants and I'm kinda stuck without the wants if I'm on a strict £20 fritter spend a week. I want to start cutting that down next month too.
The case I have is this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00654SKKM if you measure your DDs e-reader to see if it will fit (the fire is bigger than the normal e-reader). If you think it will fit then I am happy to swap, I have postage all ready and OH can get what he's givenDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:
