  • Goodness me this post moves fast, (note to self....log on more often to keep up to date). just wanted to say well done to all you frugallers. I love this challenge. x
  • just waded through today's posting! My that's gotta take up some time!!!

so inspiring you guys, loads of things made me chuckle, think that's a fab idea, how blooming resourceful, or think I do that! :rotfl:

Re yogurt making I do it too - although not very often. I use a flask, use UHT milk warm in the microwave for 2 mins, add skimmed powered milk, put 2 tablespoons of bio yog in a bowl then put a little milk and stir, when fully stirred add the rest. Put in the flask and leave over night. I freeze the other half of yogurt and freeze 2 tablespoons of the yogurt in the morning for the next batch. Works a treat - need to work out how to make it coconut flavour!

Been thinking about my budget. I have worked out "my" budget is £13500 for the year but oh & I do not spare finances and instead have a joint account and put a set amount in - I put more in as am the highest earner. So not sure this is an accurate picture of my budget? maybe some advice from someone in a similar situation on what they do?

not doing so well on the giving up smoking at the moment, thinking about going to the GP and getting something to help as if it wasn't for this I would have had 4 NSDs this year... :o:(

Anyway am another in the knackered brigade, so going to go and watch eastenders on iplayer - only another day until the weekend :j and then 6 1/2 days until I leave my current job!

Good ideas there Jayne. My 4 Bantams ain't ever gonna keep us in eggs but free firewood and other ideas have made me think. We have had lots of free wood this year, mainly softwood so doesn't last but burns fine in the stove. However was going to order some logs..maybe i should wait? Think I will add in some further bits like these into my budget outline...

Thanks Brizzled, I pick up sticks from the park when walking the dog to use for kindling. I always take a bag with me, poor dog thinks we're going to play throw the stick and jumps about everytime I bend down to pick one up:rotfl: I do get some quite large branches sometimes but usually wait til dark to collect it if I spot one as it's a bit embarrassing walking down the road with a branch:o I do raid skips sometimes but do get a bit embarrassed, need to get over it:cool:

Collecting wood from the park and skips is a great idea. Keep em coming!!

PS And OH is currently glued to his Booze for Free book I gave him for Xmas ( full price I am afraid, must try harder next year!) which I hope bodes well. We already make sloe gin, are known for it for Xmas pressies for friends and I made a lot of fruit vodka from a bumper cheapie pack of fruit from Aldi...yummy. Maybe 2012 will have its upsides after all!

its similar to what I do, managing a team of housing officers for homeless people. Really happy to be leaving my current company, and its in my home town so not driving 40miles a day so more money & more time :j took a bit of a pay cut but the feeling of leaving my company is priceless :p

Thanks for the support Brizzle - I have raided other people's recycling bins for newspapers to use as firelighters cos I don't buy newspapers. It's turning into a confessional - My name is Jayne and I'm a compulsive scavenger:rotfl::rotfl:
