Seven steps to sainthood then!
Have you also got one of those contraptions that make paper into logs for the fire then? think my dad has one he never uses and am thinking of 'accquiring' it even if it's a faff to use..some people swear by them and reusing/ putting to a different use instead of recycling is dead good MSE IMOMFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

Erme - thanks for the advice. gonna take a look in the fridge and see what I can come up with.
I was determined to have a NSD today and I did - yey for me!!!!!
On the way home I almost went to A**a as I know I need a few things before I start my night shifts on Sunday. But in order to keep to my NSD wish, I'm going in there tomorrow!
I found myself searching the carpark when I left work tonight in the hope for finding some roadkilll- but sadly none. Oh well!

Thanks Brizzled, I pick up sticks from the park when walking the dog to use for kindling. I always take a bag with me, poor dog thinks we're going to play throw the stick and jumps about everytime I bend down to pick one up:rotfl: I do get some quite large branches sometimes but usually wait til dark to collect it if I spot one as it's a bit embarrassing walking down the road with a branch:o I do raid skips sometimes but do get a bit embarrassed, need to get over it:cool:
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Thank you so much for this post! I've had a real belly-laugh, imagining you marching down the road with your dog, and a tree!!!!
But you are resourceful, frugal and providing a free, voluntary and altruistic service by kindly clearing up branches and sticks that are spoiling the surrounding area!!!!

Made lettuce soup for lunch to use up old lettuce, it was vile!!! But I ate it today, rest went in bin. Oh well at least I'm trying to reduce the amount I throw away.
Did groceries today and got all lunchbox bits for month and meat so should be a few cheaper weeks now. Still feeling enthusiastic.
That's a shame I used to make a delicious lettuce soup with spring onions White wine and peas. Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

Hubby has started a new job, so I've got to ask my husband about his earnings and expenses, then I can start working out our budget.
One frugal thing I did yesterday was make my own bread to avoid the shops. I've also made a week's meal plan, looked in my cupboards to see what I had and shopped accordingly. My shopping should arrive later today. Anybody else noticed a hike in their food bill? My shopping bill has risen by a quarter in the last 2 weeks.0 -
I'm doing okay so far, had four NSDs out of the five days and I can't see I'll need to buy anything today or tomorrow. I will need to put diesel in the car on Sunday, but our local garage has "cheaper fuel weekends" most weeks so will cost a few pence less than doing it today.
I've only spent £6.05 on groceries so far out of the £75 budget as I'm trying to empty the freezer to defrost it. We won't even need to buy bread and milk for a while as there are 3 big bottles of frozen milk and DH makes all our own bread. It may only be the first week, but I have a good feeling about January already!Making magic with fabricLight travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.0 -
morning all
well after paying all my bills and shopping yesterday i am now left with 88p in purse until the 20th, i should have enough food here but im not sure about the milk, unless mum will be so kind to get me some next wk. i made a huge error yesterday, i bought a mini mouse dress and hair band in my friends 2nd hand shop for £3.50 for my 7yr old for easter (as she gets so many eggs). its lovely and i know she will like it, but didnt realise that was the last of my money until the 20th. my 1st error of the yr.

Hi all,
this thread does move fast....i could keep up with the 2011 thread..( well in the end...lol...)
I was wondering if anyone knew the legal standing on this one...
hubby and i were talking about the price of tv licenses and sky etc.. and were wondering what if we got rid of the tv ( saving the license and sky tv fee) and just having a phone and broadband package... and then watching any programes on iplayer etc..
what sparked the conversation is that 9 times out of 10 its only hubby and i in the living room watching tv...the boys are up in their rooms on their game consoles or on their puters.... when eldest watches tv programmes on his puter.. it only asks if we have a tv license if he wants to watch a tv programme that is currently being shown on tv..but desnt ask if he watches anything on iplayer etc..
I expect the bbc/governemt has 'sussed' this one, and there is some flipping clause...
If we could do this, yes it would be really strange not having the tv on, as even if you dont wathc it, its the noise in the back ground... but over a matter of time i should imagine you could get used to it...( or not...lol...)
It would be hard to convince the family... but i am sure i could win out in the end, if it was feasible;)Work to live= not live to work0
