I can smell Marajuana in my house!

As terrible as you may feel, reporting the incident via crimestoppers is the right thing to do.
I am attached to a specialist unit that excecute drugs raids on a weekly basis.
The smell of several people using cannabis socially is quite strong, but not powerful enough to pass through to neighbouring properties in my opinion.
It sounds to me as if they have some sort of hydroponic set up next door and are cultivating it. This produces an extremeley strong, pungeant smell and would pass through if the area is not sealed properly.
Have you noticed any abnormal warmth from your walls or loft area that would indicate heat lamps? If they have a good set up, all of the heat would be reflected back into the growing area via reflective boards, but you may have noticed something. Or even a lot of water use.
I hope that something is done soon for you.
P.S It would not be obvious to anybody that the report had come from you. If the smell is strong enough to be detected in your house, then surely it would be strong enough to be picked up outside. Any police officer with knowledge of the WAYS AND MEANS ACT would be able to utilise this..... WINK WINK."This time next year Rodney, we'll be millionaires"0 -
My house has been extended but the body of it was built c.1750. My neighbours chain smoke and every evening my dining room might as well have a serving hatch in it, to their lounge. The smell of garlic chicken permeates on a regular basis too, and deodorant at times!
It no use talking to them as they aren't obliging neighbours and certainly won't stop smoking cigarettes in their own house to appease me!
If anyone has any suggestions as to how we can plug the gaps I'd be very pleased.Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!0 -

I remember a couple of years ago there was a raid on a house in a village we lived in, very funny as it started out with the fire brigade and ended up with the police, the story went,
Some inmates had escaped from durham prison and the police helicopter was dispatched to find them, while trying to locate the inmates they had a house show up very bright on there thermal imaging camera so called the fire brigade as they believed the house was on fire ... when the fire brigade got there they didnt find a fire but a full hydrophonice operation in the loft ... result = police called. If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

I dont agree that that the amount of plants that were in a loft would produce an "extremeley strong, pungeant smell", more like a HUGE MASSIVE SIZE OF A FIELD CROP would.
Its up to you whether you put your neighbours on guard and say that youve smelt grass or totally land them in it and involve the police. Believe me they will find out who grassed them up. ... I know what I would do personally.I love this site :beer:0 -
Judging by your posts I'd say you really dont want to call the police. My advice is to have a word with your neighbours, if they are growing then i'm sure they will sort it straight away for fear of getting busted.
One PLANT would strink the place out especially during the budding process so dont listen to posts saying it would take a HUGE MASSIVE SIZE OF A FIELD CROP to create a smell.
I you want your neighbour getting their door kicked in and possibly jailed and possibly made homeless for growing possibly even one plant then phone the cops.0 -

Of course,he`s not really trying to make you feel guilty..
So you could shop him,cos another point of view says he might be mass producing the stuff to sell to our teenage kids..gateway drug and all..
And the poster who says he is a Police Officer said he could be evicted if a "substantial" amount were found..not one plant.0 -
We are all responsible for our actions, including the OP neighbour. It a very delicate situation the OP is in.If he speaks to the neighbour and nothing changes,(are they likely to be able to stop smoking to suit the neighbour?) they then could find themselves in a difficult situation, because if they later reported it the neighbour would know it was them. You might imagine what the consequences of that could be.If the neighbour were to lose his home, that would be because of the consequence of his own actions. Not the OPs fault.0

I know nothing about Dope, Grass, Weed or whatever the latest name they use but I know a great deal about Activated Carbon. Buy some odour eaters made for sweaty trainers (any make will do but make sure they contain charcoal). Then put them where the smell is strongest the charcoal will get rid of it. But you might have to keep them there unless the neighbours change their habits.

Last time i checked it was illegal to produce drugs in your home or anywhere for that matter ... so shouldnt it be.
If your neighbour doesnt want to have his door kicked in / arrested / set to jail / mader homeless they shouldnt do ilegal things. people make there own choices in life its not someones fault that they made a stupid choice its there own fault. If it doesnt pay rent sell it.
