It's only been legal for the last couple of years......My policies are based not on some economics theory, but on things I and millions like me were brought up with: an honest day's work for an honest day's pay; live within your means; put by a nest egg for a rainy day; pay your bills on time; support the police - Margaret Thatcher.0

It will help BargainAholic if you only post tips on how to deal with the problem and keep general chat for The Arms or Discussion Time boards.;)
Thanks

That is unlikely to happen.
The thing is, you need to bring it to their attention. You've got nothing to fear about raising it - you sound like a reasonable kind of person, and I am sure they will be too.0 -
I wouldnt mess about and wouldnt spend money trying to get rid of the smell because it could be getting through so many places and almost be impossible to stop, waste of money and why should you have to.
I would just call the police either anonymously on crimestoppers like dubwarrior2 said or get them to come and see you plain clothes maybe and see what they think. Its causing a nuisance and cant be good for your health and they are inflicting this onto you, if you have children even worse.
Once they stop using it or growing it, it could take months for the smell to go aswell having soaked its way through your carpets, curtains, wallpaper, walls and floorboards etc so the sooner the better
If its just from smoking the stuff, the police if they visit you may be able to tell this. If that is the case in order to keep the piece between you and your neighbours for the future it would have to be handled differently than if it is being grown there. I am not sure of the legalities of this drug but can people smoke it in thier own home but not grow it? They would probably help you with this.
Simpler if they are caught growing it thoughThanx

You could phone crimestoppers if you really want to be anonymous - but i appreciate it is likley to be obvious who has spoken to the police. If you have a police community support officer you could ask them to have a quiet work with the neighbours- as this is a more gentle approach. There are lots of things that can be done from a police stance. The smell of cannabis growing is a very pungent smell, as opposted to the smell of it being smoked. Is the house rented, privately or council or housing agency? they will have a tenancy agreement which in the main should contain a bit in it relating to anti social behaviour (which this is indeed) and they could be in breach of this - perhaps you could via this means first before the police, if they fail to deal appropriately with the complaint then police can be informed - possibly with an ASBI (anti social behaviour injunction).0

bit hungover - i guess this is why the above does not make sense in places! I hope you get the gist.0

in relation to the legal bit - yes the occupant of that hoise and anyone living there can smoke the drug if they only have a small amount and they dont share it with each others. however they cannot have anyone else into the property to do the same regardless of whether they bring their own or not and certainly cannot grow it. if they were growing it the house would be very hot indeed.0

My house is bought but they are ex council houses & I do have a feeling theirs is still owned by the council, because I dont speak to them much I would feel really uncomfortable asking. I think I'll ask some of the other neighbours...
There is a wall in our loft in between their house & mine.
I've been out all day today & come in & the house is stinking!! I'm so angry!!
Anyway, I think the odd spliff isn't going to make as much smell as this, It stinks all day everyday.. I've called crime stoppers & reported them. I have had enough!!
Thanks for all the replies, I'll keep everyone posted on what happens. Mummy to Charlie & 2 beautiful twins due on Valentine's Day

You could contact Enviromental Health at the local council, without mentioning your thoughts about drugs, just say there is a very bad smell in the area and it's now seeping into your house and that you are concerned about it effecting you son's health. Ask them to investigate it, they should do that and if the neighbour's house is council property and drugs are involved they will have to sort it out.0
