Daily Thread Monday 14th November

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 14th November This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all. Hope everyone is sleeping better than me. Furry beast certainly is - and snoring.

Need to get organised today. Lots of tax returns to do and I'm getting behind. I really dislike the HMRC website.

  • Morning Cat and all who follow.

I havnt been on over the weekend so I have some catching up to do :o

Saturdau OH worked in the morning then we went logging on the farm (OH used to work for Forestry Commission) and OH spotted a dead tree still upright... apparantly this is the best fire wood. OH brought it down and I logged it with the axe :D

DD2 (5yrs) has had a wonderful weekend playing in the garden ... those who know what Ive been through its wonderful to be able to let your child play outside without the fear of her being taken. Ex doesnt know where we are :D

Sunday OH and I went picking mushrooms on the other part of the farm and then went to the local Farm Shop and brought some collar bacon and I made chicken, mushroom and bacon pies for the freezer... yum yum.. they nearly didnt make it to the freezer.. :rotfl:

Made some soup... and thats about it.. oh and a mushroom flan to eat and one for the freezer...

In my slow cooker is beef & mushroom (you seeing a trend here!!?? :rotfl:) stew.. but I think DD1 (18yrs) may have switched the slow cooker off when she came down foraging in the early hours ... Ive put it back on so hopfully it will be okay. DD wouldnt have lifted the lid....

Not Happy need to give DD1 a talking to AGAIN .... foraging in the kitchen in the early hours.. on computer until 2am when we have to get up at 4am ... A washing machine full of bath towels!!! and she always puts the washing machine on 60 degrees.. it doesnt need it... Anybody else have this problem???

Anyway... today is a quiet day... got some internet sales to process for delivery and catch up on here :T Monday is a quiet day for me because I deal with Farm Shops and delis mainly and the farm shops are shut mondays and delis are usually busy mondays so they dont want to talk or see you :T

Huggles to all those who need them...

  • Morning all, before and after!

I really didn't do anything worthwhile yesterday. I had a drink or two on Friday night and felt awful yesterday. I know what I drank and can only conclude that I'm getting old as it was nowhere near enough to justify the hangover! The good news is that I feel physically OK today but my mood's very low and I'm quite tearful. I have no idea whether this is alcohol, Bipolar or PMS related.

The cleaner's coming tomorrow morning so I need to get my a*se into gear and tidy up today. The dishwasher is broken and I didn't wash up yesterday so that's where I'll be starting today.

Breakfast eggs are cooking as I type and I've a couple of good books on the go. I'm hoping knowing I have them to look forward to will be a motivation rather than a distraction!

  • Hi everyone.

Hope that everyone had a decent weekend? Well today I can actually say I am going to do something OS. Before the break up I had arranged to meet a group of people and we were going to start some sort of knitting/crochet club. I dont really feel like going, especially as I have never met any of them before, but I feel that I better start making some sort of social life for myself even though the last thing i feel like doing is being social.

I brought my lunch to work again today, nothing very special, a peanut butter sandwich. Not sure if ill eat dinner or just pick up a snack on the way to meeting these girls.

Sending hugs to everyone else who needs one.
  • Morning :)

Well Saturday I washed all of Roo's baby clothes/bedding etc etc (Well DH did most of it...!) but it's all pretty much dry now so I have to think about folding and putting it away, I will be making up the crib and packing my hospital bags next weekend.

Sunday I went to Church, and boy did I get poorly with the Low BP. It used to be the pews were too upright, so I get a chair in the aisle... but that seems to be too upright now (and maybe too hard and the babies weight is stopping bloodflow??) so I kept getting dizzy during the service. DH and I plan on taking a special wedge next week which should support my back more and put me more in a leaning position.

Anyway, after Church I did nothing. I mean nothing... I was so poorly for the rest of the day!

Today I have a friend from Church visiting for tea this morning, and I have the school run this afternoon. I am hoping i will be well enough to make Meat and Veg 'pie' for dinner as I have a craving for beef (but it's not easy cooking while sitting down!)

I do feel more dizzy and lightheaded today then normal... so I am going to try and take it as easy as possible!

I hope everyone has a lovely day today x

    Jx

Ohh I love crocheting... Ive just had to buy a new hook though I seem to have lost mine... but I guess moving house 4 times in one year does that to you... bits get left :rotfl:

JG- Take care of yourself. I had horrible Low BP when I was pregnant with DD2. I passed out in Marks and Spencers once and they insisted on calling an ambulance :rotfl:

Didnt get any free stuff though :j

Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, DW unloaded, fish fed, breakfast eaten etc.
I'm not sure if I can stay awake long enough to do a days work, it was a very busy weekend, lol, but I best try.
I got most of my washing dry yesterday so only a few bits over the radiators.Tea tonight is roast lamb, I cooked the joint yesterday but hubby just wanted a sarnie, so I'll use it today instead.
FW BIL had an accident about 8 months ago & received a serious head injury, he will probably never recover fully.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

  • Good morning all, well the family 'do' went very well and we all filled our faces with buffet grub that my eldest DD had laid on.All the sausage rolls dissapeared so I was pleased with that and my youngest DDs birthday cake that she made for DGS also vanished like sand in the desert.
She worked all day on Saturday and came home and made a huge chocolate cake in the shape of 21 for him also and another smaller one for him to take to work today He is back on 'Pointless' working today as a researcher instead of head runner, and apparently the crew are taking him out for lunch as today is his actual birthday. When he opened my present he was so chuffed and had tears in his eyes bless him.I bought him an 'Ultimate Driving Experience' and he has a choice of one of thirty different driving days out when he can drive anything from a mini-cooper to a tank and vehicles inbetween.I think he said he may go for the Silverstone racing car day.First time I have ever known our Danny to be speechless bless him.He did manage to thank his Mum and Dad for a fantastic 21 years and all his family for just being his family.I have just texted him a Happy Birthday wish as he is already on his way to work as he has to travel to west London for deepest Kent.He will get home around 8.30 tonight and his girlfriend Chloe is taking out for a meal.
Well school run this morning followed by book club so a busy morning in front of me.
I hope everone has a fantastic day, even though it is Monday morning
    Cheers Chums
