Handling food with bare hands is perfectly acceptable if they are clean. In fact, it's most probably more hygienic than using a set of tongs that have been lying out for hours at room temperature with bacteria growing all over them.
I'd also wager that the staffs' hands are cleaner than those of the customer about to eat the product. How many Greggs customers stop to wash their hands in between fumbling about with their loose change and scoffing their steak bake?0 -

then you wouldnt complain
@Lee uk - so putting a frozen non-cooked product in an oven to 'bake' them is not baking them?
next you'll be telling me that the 'fresh baked bread' in some supermarkets is actually made fresh and not out of pre made dough which is shipped to them every day.
Funny.
I work for a major supermarket and all the in-store bakery bread comes in frozen part baked.
What I'm saying is nothing at Greggs is made fresh out the back. They make the sandwiches up in-store but the contents are already prep and shipped in.0
