  • OK then.. if 'freshly baked', it should still be hot, right?

Freshly baked means baked in store

interesting thread here if you are interested in the safety of the food http://www.ifsqn.com/forum/index.php/topic/14817-ambient-sausage-rolls/

"Time-related exemptions from temperature control are provided for the following products:
    • "(a) cooked pies and pasties containing meat, fish or any substitute for meat or fish or vegetables or cheese or any combination thereof encased in pastry into which nothing has been introduced after baking and sausage rolls which are intended to be sold on the day of their production or the next day;"
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I doubt they call them cornish pasties anymore, The items have nothing to do with cornwall.

Greggs don't sell 'Hot' sausage rolls etc - they sell 'Freshly-baked' ones - there's no heating in the cabinets, just lighting (so my local shop told me). It's something to do with VAT!

You just need to get there as they come out the oven.

Thats about the crux of it, although Greggs do claim that by not keeping them heated it means that the quality is preserved better for people who want to take them home and reheat them.
  • but its a snack shop.. if i was going to heat them at home, would get the frozen ones and do it myself!

You are under the impression that Greggs food should be freshly made within say an hour and hot, either because it is out of the oven recently or they keep them hot.

You seem to think that once food loses it heat, they should throw them away, like the fast food restaurants do with burgers which aren't bought within a certain time.

That is not how Greggs work, they bake them, put them on display and you buy them.

If they are recently out of the oven they will be hot, if not, they will be warm/cold and you'll need to either eat them cold or warm them up yourself.

If you want something hot, you can eat there and then, then you need to ask what has just come out of the oven.

On a lighter note, is it just me who when I have a steak bake etc...still find small bits of pastry stuck to my clothing hours after eating them.
