So you are saying i should have done a 20 mile round trip to Aldi, then got them to send it off for repair, then done another 20 mile round trip to pick it up again, on the other hand i could call from the comfort of my own house, get them to collect at a convienent time and get it delivered back to my own house again without fuss
:rolleyes:0 -

Whether its a 20 mile trip or not, the fact is, he\she is right. the SOGA states it is the stores responsibility and a customer is quite within their right to demand a replacement or refund from the very store they bought it from, no matter how many miles they went to buy it.
Most customers buy a product from a local store, it is just as convenient for them to go back to the very store and have it replaced or refunded, as is their right.
That you had a 20 Mile journey to buy a product, is neither here nor there really, it was more convenient FOR YOU due to how far you are prepared to travel to buy such a product. Which is NOT what the poster is saying at all, nothing about mileage, distance or convenience. just clearly about a consumers rights.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Of course the customer has the right to go back to the stoe, i didnt say they did not have that right did i ? , i said sometimes its more convienent and quicker to go direct which it is,
By the tone of edwace post it seems you should always go back to the store otherwise yo are letting them get away with it , end of the day i do whats more convient for me0 -
Never let common sense get in the way of your consumer rights.0

I purchased a steam iron from Aldi £40, it is 10 months old and has gone faulty. I took it back to the local Aldi, they said that they have a new returns policy from January 2007. They will only deal with faulty items within three months of purchase, after three months they say you have to return the item back to the manufacturer. I would have to return the iron to the manufacturer.
That`s how this tread started Deanos it`s about a company that refuses to honour the consumers rights regarding returning faulty goods .
Please note the would have to return the iron to the manufacturer
The comments about contacting the manufacturer direct are completely irrelevant in those circumstances and only lend weight to the shops point of view.
You & everyone here have a choice, to return to the shop or contact the manufacturer direct , those are your rights , but the whole point of this discussion is that Aldi have attempted to disregard those rights not just in one local branch but as a matter of policy.
It may have been convenient for you to go through the manufacturer ,but for Rashid who started this discussion with the title Aldi Help! it was not at all convenient, nor was it convenient for Ebovboro who had to go to a lot of trouble just to get his legal right , it`s also not very convenient for the thousands of people who are subjected to these unfair practises every day. That`s the point you seem to be missing when you get upset because I pointed out, it is not in the least bit helpful to respond to an Aldi help! query with what you personally find convenient.0
