Seller trying to increase postage

I won a dress for 99p + £2 postage and paid on 2nd Nov. 9 days later the seller has emailed me with this:
"hello! your item's shipping was more than anticipated, as you can see from the stamps value on the envelope in the attachment, would you mind paying the difference please?
I apologise for miscalculating the shipping cost, I had different rates before me! I had 2.34 euro(2.00 GBP) for shipping whilst it actually was 5.15 euro. So the difference I am asking is 3.15 euro
Really appreciate it! Again apologies"
Is there anything I can do about this? I understand that she is shipping from Greece but if she had put the postage price as £2, then surely that's what I should pay and nothing more. I'm guessing that if I do not send her the extra money then she will not send the item.
Is there any way I can get ebay to do something or could I report her?

Just reply politely that you have paid the amount that you feel it is worth to you. If she requires more then suggest she refunds you *immediately* and resells the item.
If she does refund you then consider your feedback carefully , personally waiting 9 days to explain the problem would have me leaving a very harsh neg, I'd also be hammering both the despatch and communication stars. The sellers behaviour is not acceptable and should not be encouraged - so get your money back and leave a neg, unfortunately I think you will have to accept that you won't be getting this item.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Only pay the auction price you agreed on, if they won't sent the item then you can report them as a non-performing seller. It's unfortunate for them but they should have made sure of the costs before listing, its not your fault they messed up.S.P.C member 1662 - target £3000

I'm going to email her to say I refuse to pay the extra money, and I will be leaving negative feedback. If the postage had been 5 euros from the start then I wouldn't have bought the item in the first place.0

NO, never warn or threaten about negative feedback. Stay reasonable, ask for item to be sent or a refund to be made. Once you have your refund *then* neg.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. or you could just be nice and pay it, 5 euros from greece doesn't sound like they are trying to make a massive profit from it
consider it a bail out0 -

Wow, or the seller could 'be nice' and just send the item and pay the extra 3 euros as it is their mistake.
Any time I have undercharged for postage by mistake I have just sucked it up and paid it myself, I would never consider asking someone to cough up extra money.0 -

Really, you'd pay up even though seller has had the OPs money for 9 days without mentioning that item hasn't been despatched?
Sorry, but while buyers continue to roll over and get walked over these sellers will continue to think this is acceptable. This is NOT acceptable and buyer should not pander to them at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Why does everyone on here assume all sellers are professional and should never make a mistake?
The poor woman in Greece has obviously made an error in the listing and some are advocating it's only fair that she should be left out of pocket for selling something. That is grossly unfair.
I agree 9 days to do something about it is too long but, either pay the extra to cover the post or refuse to pay it and ask for a refund. I cannot believe anyone would force the seller to send it at the postage price listed in this particular instance. If you are going to leave a neg, keep it factual, "listed wrong postage on listing" or something like that
Some of the comments on this thread you would think the seller was unhappy with the selling price and so had bumped up the postage a tenner for some extra profit.
Please get some perspective!It may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type0 -
No one can force the seller to send the item, we are just making a suggestion to the OP that they should tell the seller they will not pay more than agreed in the auction. This leaves the the seller with 2 options, send it and take the hit for their mistake or refuse the sale and refund.
I don't sell much and guess my postage costs, if I over charge I refund the excess, if I undercharge then its my own problem and I would never ask a buyer to pay more, even if I ended up with a small loss on the item.S.P.C member 1662 - target £3000 -
I have miscalculated post before and have never asked the buyer for the extra. It's my mistake therefore I pay.MyOnlyPost wrote: »Why does everyone on here assume all sellers are professional and should never make a mistake?

I do not feel sorry for the seller it is her mistake and I do not feel sorry for her. She should have worked out the postage before listing. You learn from mistakes.0
