I am wondering if the OP made this up as since it happened they have not been back online to see what outcome they got from Tesco
Probably because there was no drama and Tesco did what people told her they would do.

The fact remains that this should never have happened, there are laws that food delivery vehicles have to comply with and these stipulate that there should be segregation between food and other items which may cause contamination. This was breached and the driver should have realised that this was the case and reported it. If he had done that the van would have returned to the depot and Tesco could have arranged another delivery or informed the customer of a delay in the delivery.
I would hope Tesco would take such an incident very seriously and take steps to prevent re-occurrence. You may say its a storm in a teacup but there are very strict laws on food and food handling and contamination.
As for the OP, they should not have accepted the delivery and anyone who would accept such a delivery is taking a risk. Not all food is packaged in such a way that protects it from such contamination, and even if the food is not contaminated the customer should not be expected to handle items contaminated with bleach. Take a close look at the warnings on a bleach bottle it indicates corrosive and not to let it touch bare skin, yet the driver was happy to hand over a receipt that was sodden with bleach.
I am not saying the OP is right rushing to post on this forum, but they are correct to put in a serious complaint to Tesco. I do not agree with the compensation culture that exists in today's society but I do think that if Tesco value customer service they will apologise to the customer and give a token gesture to cover inconvenience.
I am sure if this was reported to the food standards agency they would take a dim view of Tesco's failure to prevent contamination of food.0 -
My shopping from Tescos was once delivered cover in Washing up liquid.
The delivery man was very apolgetic especially as it dripped all through the house on the carpet.
He offered to take away all of the food but suggested that i look through it and see what was salvagable and then contact Customer Services.
When I phoned they immediately refunded the whole order, they sent someone out to assess the carpet and offered to pay for it to be cleaned and sent a large bunch of flowers the next day.
I have no complaints about Tescos delivery service,

The OP has a right to be very annoyed, she forked out £50 for her weekly shopping and received food tainted by bleach!
The delivery guy should have investigated the leak and checked whether the bleach had dropped onto other peoples food orders as it did in this case. The OP did not check her order because she was reassured by the delivery guy that the bleach was just on her receipt.0 -

Hi Amandamilner - sorry to hear about your boyfriends incident - please would you mind telling me what type of door it was and how did you get the CCTV footage? A similar thing has happened to a family member but we dont seem to be getting anywhere! Thanks for your help in advance0
