  • Well that's something to be grateful about. I learned the tip off here of always doing a test transfer for £1 and if that reaches the intended recipient you are good to go. Of course hindsight is a wonderful thing....

What I don't understand is why anyone who suddenly found £10,000 in their account would even contemplate spending it and thinking there would be no repercussions!!

Just keep the pressure on through the police - they are obviously taking it seriously (probably due to the amount involved) so keep in touch with them.

What are you going to do if they have a fake invoice created and say the money you transferred was in part payment of the invoice? How can you prove you never received any such goods? If you bought stuff from them before then surely they already have all your contact details so this would be an easy task. It's not like they don't know who you are.

From what l can make out the person who spent my money is saying they had applied for a loan months prior and spent my money thinking it was the loan money. Lloyds bank have a statement as far as l know from the Beneficiary saying this. Police seem to think that IF she has a loan coming through she can pay me back. I think if she had a loan coming through what r the chances it is for the same sum, and she should have paper work ( doc's) in place to prove this.
I am very dubious about all this.
Am hoping the Police will put 'the fear '' into this person and she might move her bum to sort all this out. Do not have high hopes of any of this turning out good for me.
Still would not want anyone else to go through it.People should really know about these sort of problems they can get themselves into...all by mistake!!

Do you know the the account number and sort code with the reference you sent the payment to?

You will have to write to the bank will the details and ask them to return the money however it can be a long winded process.
