Disabled son beaten up at college, twice

Hi, I have dyspraxia although it is now quite mild. There are groups out there where people who have dyspraxia can meet up, so its a way of socially interacting without feeling uncomfortable. Until I left college I was made aware of my dyspraxia every day through pupils & teachers not being able to understand what it is. One of the only teachers I had who helped had actually studied it at uni, so I would arrange a meeting with one of the more understanding teachers and bring all the literature on dyspraxia & learning difficulties that you can find so that they will be better equipt with dealing with these bullies in the future. As I said i only had a mild form of it so now, it was only when I was in education (due to certain lessons & bullies) that it affected me, although i'm still not so good at social interaction4/70 lbs lost £0/£2,358 lostI will lose all of this by the end of 2014 & finally gain a life! :j0

My grandson (just 6) has disability problems - he had hearing problems which were mucked up by various hospitals (although fine now), but was then diagnosed as being on the "autistic spectrum".
His school wanted to throw him out, as they don't really like "Special Needs" but my daughter persevered, got him statemented, got 22 hours a week support, and all (after problems to begin with) has been going fine.
His siblings attend the same school, and he wanted to be with his brothers.
Yesterday he apparantly patted two little girls (also age 6) on their bottoms........they didn't even notice, but a teacher did, dragged him out of class and shouted at him (which resulted in him having hysterics).they then called my daughter into school and told her he was exhibiting "inappropriate sexual behaviour".
I've worked for a Child Abuse and this is a total nonsense - he doesn't understand sexual behaviour, appropriate or otherwise.
She's going mad, my grandson is frightened of being yelled at, and I think the school really need to take a look at themselves.
They are all 6 years old.
That's what 6 year olds DO.
She sat him down and asked why he patted the girls - he just said he was tickling them to make them laugh.
God, I could throttle these idiots at times.
The headteacher has now apologised and agreed that the teacher was way over the top.
But, that doesn't really help.
Added to which, any child that touches another is punished by losing a day's play time - he doesn't understand why, and I don't understand why children cannot touch each other in any way - kids have always played tactile games.
Rant over.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
I'm so sorry about your son. It's terrible that people seem get away with this. Nothing seems to frighten them.
I have an 18yo with dyspraxia and ADD. He had a miserable time at school. He goes to college but refused to go to the one in our town as there would be people from school there. Instead he gets up at 5.45am to travel over 40 miles away instead. It's worth it as he enjoys it.
My 14yo gets picked on at school too. We live near the school and we often see him being shouted at on his way home. He walks home alone and they only do it if there are a few of them. Cowards! Last week he was sent to time out just after entering one of his classes. Dh has problem communicating too. He gets worked up and shouts if anyone has a go at him and this doesn't help. He told me he'd done nothing wrong. This week his teacher apologised and said that it was easier to send my son out of class than the others who were picking on him!0 -
I've been waiting for the court appearance to give you all an update & replies
the young thug was before the Sheriff yesterday, but we still don't know what happened. my Ex OH was refused admission to the public galleryso all we can do now is wait for the policeman who made the arrest to get back to us with news
meanwhile, my boy's still too afraid to go out alone, & he's worrying that if the thug's not jailed that he'll come round & kick our door in! ... very unlikely, he doesn't know where we live & we're ex-directory, it's a nice area here & someone like him hanging around would be noticed immediately. but try telling that to a terrified 'child'
I'll report back when I know something & I've calmed down
thanks again for all your support :A0 -
Well if there is any juctice out there hpefully he will be suitably punished.
I hope your son is ok - best wishes and i hope the news is good. The smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention ~ Anonymous0 -
