I am so sorry to hear what has happened. The b@stard should be horse whipped.I am sick and tired hearing about incidents like this.If it was my son I`d sort the little sod out my way but that`s just me.Might be a good idea to get a free half hour interview with a solicitor as I doubt very much that the court will hand out more than a tap on the wrist. Please have your son see a doctor to record the extent of his injuries and attempt to sue for damages.Might teach the little toe rag a lesson.

If my son did anything like that he would be thrown out of the house!

I'm so sorry to hear this. As the parent of a child with learning problems I know how vulnerable they are to this kind of behaviour. You say he is on a course for young people with LDs - presumably there is a relevant dept at the college (at my daughter's it is called Foundation Studies). Are they not responsible for making sure the young people are safe from this kind of behaviour. Do they provide classroom support for them? If so, I think this needs to be more pro-active and if not, why not? How are other students on the course coping? Is this an isolated incident, or has it happened to others?

I'd be fuming if I was you.

    hugs

again, thanks for your support & good wishes :)
my young man seems calmer now, hopefully a few quiet days at home will make him feel better

my OH & I have been in contact with the college several times over the course of the last few days, & surprise, surprise, it now seems that the tutors we've been in contact with have all been telling us different stories

for instance, the tutor I spoke to before the second assault said they could do nothing unless we decided to press charges on the grounds of the first assault

the Special Needs Team Leader now (this afternoon) tells me that the boy/thug was cautioned by the police in his parents' home & told to stay away from the college & as far as she's concerned, their responsibility ended there & they'd done all they could
I disagree  & told her, quietly but firmly, that she had failed my boy miserably, she then said goodbye & put the phone down on me! very professional

I called back & left a message for her (I declined the offer to talk to her after her previous rudeness)
    1) I intend to put my complaints in writing to anyone I deem appropriate
    2) I intend to take the matter up with the college Principal*
    3) I intend to take legal advice

    * my OH already contacted the Principal's office, they'd heard nothing about the incident, but now intend to organise a top-level meeting next week

I'll give some better/individual answers later, my head hurts just now thinking about it all

but I need to mention this ...
....... With scummy people like that, violence is the only way of making them understand!
although I'm not usually a violent person & know in the long run it's not the answer, everything you said has gone through my head, & more
& believe me, I'm having a hard time reigning his big brother in!

OMG do you know, this is probably the 4th thread where someones child has been beaten @ school or college this week! What is wrong with people!
(((((((((((((((Hugs Swan))))))))))))))) Some people are just so mean, especially kids. There are a couple of threads over in DT which are basically the same as this it's so upsetting, I hope your son is ok xx

I think they all must be tapped - them and their parents. I dont know what the matter with kids is these days (I'm only 26 but they make me feel so old!)
last night as OH and I were walking up the road home there were 2 kids probably about 10 or 11 YO who found it really amusing to walk up the road shouting w@***r! at the top of their voice and pulling over the signs the workmen had put at the top of the road for the following day - I stared at them completely dumbfound while OH opened the door - these children/satans spawn then started shouting at me "what the fcuk you looking at sl@g!" I half expected our windows to be put through or be a victim of knock door run for the rest of the night!
what parents bring up their children like that??

...sorry for the rant on you thread

I hope your son goes back to college - he shouldnt let one spiteful person ruin his education

We've just had to report a lad to the police for attacking our son outside school but ds doesn't have a disability. It's an awful situation anyway, but must be even worse in your situation!

I was just wondering if your son has made a victim impact statement (I think that's what it's called anyway). Basically, the court can take it into account if he is suffering in any way as a direct result of the attack. He certainly is if he doesn't want to go out and the judge should be made aware of this.

You should also have access to victim support, as already said. I've been informed they are very good but don't know as we are still trying to get the lad that attacked ds arrested.

Best of luck, hope your son recovers soon,
