Same here really. Good news lately though as DH was offered a new job. He's being made redundant in January and we've known it was going to happen since before last Christmas, so it's good we haven't got that worry hanging over our heads any more!
That's fab news hun:j:j"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Hi all,
Stopped work on the roof when it started to get too dark to see and jumped into a hot bath, DH had a hot shower, we are now in our snugglies and enjoying a glass of redAt this rate it's gonna take us ages to get the old one off. New one being delivered tomorrow Eeekkk.
DH has put my car in neighbours to make room for the delivery, they're away and we look after their house & garden, do the bins, clear up after the carnnage (sp) the badgers leave and do their chickens day & night, I don't mind because we get the fruit, veg & eggs produced when they are on hols.
DD phoned this am to say baby Olivia 2wks old has a cold, DD only got 2 hrs sleep lastnight because Olivia couldn't feed whilst unable to breath through her nose, so I'm having Charlotte at 10am tomorrow and she's sleeping over.
Before starting on the roof I did some roast sweet pots, garlic, carrots, onions, peppers, leeks & mushrooms. Got 4 large chick breasts from freezer to be stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon for all 5 of us so that's dinner sorted for tomorrow.
Well I'm hoping that's OS, DIY roof, caring for family & looking out for neighbours. I mention this because my post lately have been more about my hosp appts than OS.
FW, hoping that the lack of update is because you are celebrating and getting sozzled with your Dad & family.
JOOLS, What a worry, hope OH gets his cash.
BRAMBLE, Congratulations on your 1st engagement anniversary.
TEA LOVER, Thanks for the info about the Game pate, just got to get some.
SHALVA, An old cottage needs so much upkeep, hopefully this is the last major project. Or have I spoken too soon. Just trying to save some money, the lowest quote from a firm was £4,558. Thanks Hun, :A I'll take it easy after this.0 -
Hi Chums and <<hugs to those in need>>
I have been MIA for a couple of days as I have been so busy .Whoever said being retired was a doddle didn't have a tribe of G/children to run around after.
Still home now and just done a revised list of my freezer contents and its finally going down a bit.although with 7 boxes of stewed apples in there from the windfalls it still looks full.
Tonight is going to be battered cod and chips and peas all from the freezer.I did a tiny bit of shopping but only had to get three things which came to £3.00 so I am still under a tenner so far this month which is brilliant.I am only buying what's really needed and nothing else, and eating from the cupboards and baking a lot more .
I will make a big vat of chunky veggie soup tomorrow as I have a big swede, some bendy celery, some parsnips, some onions and carrots and a few mushrooms to use up.I even may chuck some broccoli in towards the end to 'bulk ' it up a bit as I have two heads in the bottom of the fridge.I like my soups to be more of a meal, and as I have quite a bit of crusty garlic bread in the freezer it will help to use it up.
I think next week will be a 'fish ' week as I seem to have quite a bit in the bottom of the freezer.I am determined to have a near empty freezer before Christmas if I can, plus of course it means I'm not going out to shop and being tempted to buy.
Tomorrow is History club which i always enjoy in the afternoon.Saturday I am off to a quilting show where my friend is exibiting in London.I can't stay too long as I have a pile of sausage rolls to make for the buffet on Sunday afternoon at Dds house .
My DGS Danny is 21 next Monday so we're having a bit of a family do at her house .My youngest DD is making his cake,in fact she is doing two as a chocolate one in the shape of 21 for the boy, and one of her smashing cheese cakes for those slightly more grown up:) Poor lass is working all day on Saturday as well so she will be cooking half the night when she comes home ,but she adores her nephew and he loves her chocolate cake as she smothers it in all sorts of decorations.
I am so excited as I'm wondering what day out he will choose I have bought him a 'car day out' with a choice of one of thirty different vehicles to drive from a mini-cooper to a tank.It will be the last thing he will expect to get but he is such a smashing lad and he deserves something a bit 'different 'on his 21st that he will remember when he is an old man himself .
Right I'm off to have some dinner ,
Hope everyone has a good evening
Take care all

jackieo happy 21st to your dgs. my sister made a brilliant mega chocolate cake for my 21st decorated with chocolate truffles she made. Oooooh *drools*, wonder if I claim to be "21 again" every year she'll do it again?
Evening everyone. Still busy here, I need to finish churning out a coursework tonight but needed a break, might go have a bath in a mo as well. OH is staying at his old place due to work tonight, so it's just me here to plod on with work and eat a funny dinner concoction that even he won't touch :rotfl: His building is horrible, hell to live in so he lives at my new place but his lease ends in a few weeks. The neighbour on one side has acquired a baby despite never looking pregnant or ever mentioning a man in her life and the other one has 3-4 gentlemen callers a night since losing her day job. Make of this what you will
My new bedding from Asda still hasn't come, I checked it on HDNL and it's gone from Mitcham (3 miles away) to the Midlands and is now in sheffield?!!!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
