Being a massive fan of HFW I felt slightly let down by this book. I have all the others. I felt there were just too many toasty and salad things. I made squash with pearl barley and fennel and it was lovely as I have no doubt other things will be. I didnt pay £11.99 mind!!!!

For a veggie cook book Plenty by Yotam Ottolenghi cannot be beaten. Truely outstanding stuff. His Puy Lentil Galettes are just lush :D

Flatbreads are really quick and easy to make. Have a bash.

That's interesting - I have Plenty and am not that fussed by it. Too many dishes require tons of ingredients, and a lot of them aren't really enough by themselves for a meal. Put it this way - I'd far rather come home from work to eat something out of Veg Everyday than Plenty.

Haha...guess thats's why we are all different then. :D I just find what he has is really tasty.

I will admit to wanting to try Beetroot with walnuts and cumin from RCV. I am sure I will actually eat most of the recipes at some time I just felt slightly let down by it.
  • I bought this a few eeks back as I've now been a non meat eater for around 6 months and am stumped for new ideas. I will eat fish but don;t want to eat pretend meat like quorn and tofu is _pale_.

I love to browse through it and get ideas as much as cook things following the recipe but I have made and loved the potato rostis, Potatas Bravas (the tomato sauce from this would be lovely with pasta), a spinach and potato curry and a few other bits.

    I am loving this series!

I have asked for this book for Christmas, if not I will ask again for my birthday at the end of January. Love everything HFW and RC do, would love to live there one day :rotfl:

I made this one too but wasn't very impressed.. my "normal" curry (made using home-made curry paste) is much better!!

Yesterday I printed 2 more recipes (mushroom stew and chickpeas with squash), which I want to try soon, they look nice. (although I will probably be hungry 2 hours after eating these dishes, like any vegetarian dish I try!!)
  • Could someone who has the book have a quick flick through and let me know what proportion of rcipes are dairy free? I'd like to ask for it for Xmas but it's not worth it if every other recipe calls for cheese/cream etc.

On the series he very rarely uses cream or cheese , but he does use plenty of pulses and eggs.
