Wok recommendations needed

Hi, in my bid to lose wait I have started to eat a lot of stir fries and at present I'm frying them in my usual frying pan. I'm keen to know everyones thoughts on using a wok....does it really speed up the frying process....is it worth spending money on a good one etc
...any help appreciated.
thanks in advance0 -
I cannot live without mine. I use it everyday, for ALL frying. I doubt it speeds up the process, but it is very roomy (in a normal frying pan my food ends up all over the hob!). I have a typoon professional non-stick (14").

I have a Tefal one, they seem to last well, much better than a frying pan for things like stir fries.0

I have a stainless steel Ken Hom wok from Argos. Lovely and big with a lid too but sometimes I wish it was non-stick
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

We have a large Le Creuset wok - in our defence, it was a present because they are awfully expensive new!
It is excellent, and although it is cast iron and not non-stick coated, it is now virtually non-stick because it is now very well seasoned. It is large enough to cook almost anything in, and it has a great glass lid as well.0 -

You should be able to find a cast iron wok for around £35. Properly seasoned, it will be virtually nonstick and will last a lifetime.
:AI want to move to theory. Everything works in theory.0 -
I got my wok in a chinese cash & carry for £4 and seasoned it myself - it is amazing and have stir fries about twice a week. They say that the authentic chinese are the best so if you have a cash & carry or chinese store around then can get them really cheap & loads of info on net re seasoning.0

Our "wok" dates from 1987. bought in an indian ironmonger store in wolverhampton for about £2.50 and made of mild steel. Expect it to outlast me and the kids.Well seasoned now and you can still get them - often called "karai" (spelling?_) in such shops.
Used very regularly for stirfies/curries/spag bol/etc etc. When cycling, I pay the same road tax as any other zero carbon emission vehicle.0
