As said - some people can't grow their hair long. Or perhaps it's just impractical most of the time!

Ignoring the extremes of people who are very orange/have those bizarre drag queen style eyelashes etc, you probably daily see loads of people with fake tans, false eyelashes, false nails and never notice, because all can be used in a non obvious way to enhance and still have a natural look.

Of course, if people want to go to those extremes, nobody else has a say anyway...

OK, so going the whole hog and having everything fake - tan/hair/nails/eyelashes/boobs - is a bit plastic fantastic and it can look a bit extreme, but really, to each her own. Live and let live girls!

Besides, I don't really see how these things are any different from wearing make-up everyday (and you'll never catch me without my mascara!). Its all fake isn't it?

If done properly, then I'm all for it! I am one of those white pasty girls but I don't mind the natural look, you get used to the 'are you feeling alright, you're a bit pale?' questions after a few years.
I do believe in each to their own, if people have the cash for it, then go for it, as long as it's professional and not cheap and nasty.
I got married last month and went with very basic make up, nothing false. My best friend is being married in June and is going the whole spray tan/fake nails/fake lashes/extensions if needed etc, I'm a bit nervous cos I'll look so pale next to her so might brave a spray tan, but I'm sure it'll be great fun getting all dressed up for a special occasion - I guess I'm also saying don't knock it til you've tried it!

Also love the comments about keeping the economy going - I know people who'd rather give up a bottle of wine at the weekend for a manicure!!!

I have long hair and long nails too... All home-grown :D

Same here! And big natural boobs and small waist to boot. This is why I dislike women who do it all fake....it detracts from those of us who have it naturally ;):rotfl:

  • I think that it's up to the individual as to how they want to look and what they want to spend money on.

I have been known to use extensions, false nails, false eyelashes and fake tan in the past and still occassionally do. It does annoy me though that whenever you have a "nice" feature or spend time/effort to make sure something is nice people automatically assume it's fake. I got asked the other week if I'd had implants in my lips! And now that my nails are long and I spend time painting them I get asked if they're fake.

Natural doesn't equal unkempt! Short hair and pale skin don't equal unattractive either. Some people don't look good with hair extensions, fake square nails or orange tans.

  • Pale skin can look beautiful. Everyone is attracted to different things. Some people may hate pale-skinned people and call them "pasty," whereas others may find it very attractive and call it "English Rose" or "porcelain" skin.

I wonder why it's acceptable to slate people with very white skin and call them nasty names on here, when doubtless it would NOT be acceptable to slate black people's skin and call it something nasty? Racism works both ways. If someone said "black skin looks like (insert nasty adjective here)" they would probably be banned from MSE, so why is it OK to do that to white people?

i have olive skin but i looooooooove white skin with blue eyes and blonde or dark hair. I dont do fake tan, nails ( although i would love too, they make you look so delicate, iam not talking about chav nails tho)hair extensions, i have long hair but growing it was a pain, also my hair looks huge, it is very thick so i need thinning every month or i look like the lion king. i have some redness, a small chest and short legs, i am 5ft 3 1/2-very important 1/2-, so i wear mineral make up, push up bra and high heels( when Iam not with my 4yo).. i guess that make me fake too.

I think pale skin can be beautiful too when it looks healthy. When us paleys are tired though or run down we do look like zombies lol Has to be said though that as stunning as pale skin can be it seems harder to keep it looking it's best and healthy.

That said, tanned skin apparently looks 'healthy' but it isn't
