Looking at the amount you've cleared does that mean you could be MF in 2-3 years? That's no time at all :T
How would you feel then about being able to live life, do stuff with the kids knowing your home is owned outright?

Hi Tilly
In theory we should be able to either clear the mortgage in 2/3 years or at least be mortgage neutral (money in savings equivalent to more than the o/s mortgage).
I think it would be an amazing feeling indeed!
I still want to get some B2L's (that old recurring story again) but perhaps it would be nice to achieve a mortgage free status on our own property and then start saving for the deposits.
I'm just not sure at the moment.......
Thanks for popping in xx0 -
Lovely weekend......
We took the boys to a fair on Friday night. On the downside, we rinsed £30 in an hour.
Saturday - Bought DS1 some new clothes..... Bought myself two new lipsticks, dry hair shampoo, body cream spray stuff. Bad. I didn't need any of those things.
Sunday - boys went to archery in the morning. First one since their lessons, so it was free. Good. I ordered some new moisturisers online and some SPF for my face. Bad. I didn't need the new moisturisers - I have plenty. Will return as soon as the order arrives. Will keep SPF as my current one is almost out and IMO it's essential. BBQ with neighbours in the afternoon. Good - didn't spend any money.
So - I've decided that I need to list all of my spends, it's the only way that I can try and break the habit. It's really going to be really embarrassing to admit to it all.... but it might help me. Please feel free to tell me off.

Monday.......
-Have decided that I will return the pointless purchase that I picked up at the airport last week. I can return it when I'm in London on Wednesday. Bad that i bought it in the first place. Good that I'm returning it.
-Ordered the paint online so that the exterior of the house can be painted. Have put it off for the last year or so, but the house is looking grubby and since it's rendered we have no choice but to paint it if we want to keep it looking nice. Searched everywhere for the best deal on paint. Spent £280. $8!7!!!!
Agreed for the painter to come next week (had it booked for yolks) - two people for 3 days - £450. Bad bad bad.
Ordered the paint via Quidco - is that some sort of good?0 -
Cr*p - I missed some of the spends from Saturday.....
-coffee and croissant in Costa
And, I ordered new clothes from the Massimo Dutti sale on Friday. So, technically not Saturday but still BAD. I will allow myself to keep two items and return everything else.
HELP needed..........0 -
Right..... just called and cancelled the SPF. Good. Will order when I've ran out rather than before I actually run out! To be fair, I have enough left to last a little while....... £31 (????!!!!! I know I know....) saved.
The shame of posting my stupid spending is definitely going to help.....0 -
Don't beat yourself up too much lulabelle. Everyone needs lilies as well as loaves. It's just a matter of getting the balance right.

Thanks fortune but I seem to have a fair few bunches (fields full?) of lilies at the moment....... I'm hoping that the declaration of spending will shame me in to behaving better! Xx0

It is amazing how long things last if you wait until they have actually gone before replacing!Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
