Hi there,
Hope your DS is OK with school. My youngest has just started this week and is doing a week of 1.25-3.25 which to be honest is doing his head in, he just wants to go all day! Not long now tho.0 -

It's a pain isn't it - mine is doing 0900-1100 this week and next week and then 0845-1315 the following week and then finally starting properly just as it turns October. It's a proper pain in the ar*e. They're used to going to nursery, so it's all just a bit silly really.....0 -
When I was looking at schools for DD they had a stupid half day for half a term system. I said she would have to stay at nursery until they could take her for a full day as I work and just could not deal with this sort of messing about. They seemed really surprised. In the end we decided to send her to an Indie and they were happy to take her for full days from the beginning (since it earned them more money).
Good luck with all the chopping and changing and I hope they settle in nice and quicklyI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

I'm a bit fed up with money obsessing...
So, I decided to close down most of the accounts I had opened where I pop money each month for entertainment/meals out/clothes/etc etc. Instead, I'm going back to what i used to do ages ago which is to pop some money aside in one of my current accounts for cash withdrawals where needed and then all other spends will be done on our Credit Cards and paid off at the end of each month.
I made this decision a few weeks ago and so far I'm very happy with it - of course, it's a woman's prerogative to change her mind and I'm sure I will but for the time being at least I'm happy.
It's so nice not having to shift money around from various accounts every day - I can just spend what i need to and then pay it at the end of the month. Simples.
The only accounts that I did keep were birthdays, christmas, holiday and the cats self insurance as it makes sense to save a bit each month for those.0 -
Hi Lulabelle
I use my credit card like that paying it all off at the end of the month and as it earns points it's great. I usually cash the points in at the end of the year for M&S vouchers, so either Xmas food shopping is paid for or... if I'm not that organised I have free groceries for January at least! Works great.
I also use an AP on my phone which means that I can keep track of what I am spending on what as I post the credit card payments on that and categorise them. Doesn't stop me spending on stuff I shouldn't but it does make me think twice when I look at the monthly reports and promise to be better next month - won't even think about my August grocery spend!!.

Thanks Anna G
I'm quite liking not having to transfer money around all the time, although I've been quite lazy and haven't bother to track my CC spends.. I keep an eye on the balance and have a look every few days to see if the transactions are OK.
We're only buying what we really need in regards to supermarket shops, so no matter how much I obsess, track, record etc etc, it's still going to cost us the same.
We've decided to allocate more money to going out. DH and I rarely have any quality time together, so we're going to make a point of going out more just the two of us for dinner or cinema etc - hopefully a couple of times a month. It will cost more, but there's no point in us being mortgage free if we drift apart in the mean time. So, happy to invest in this area!
Pay day tomorrow and it's been nice using the CC for spends as it means I've not felt totally skint for the last week.0
