Thank Helen and Newgirly.....
Pay Day tomorrow, phew.....
Hoping for some idea on prices tonight....
Been out to a couple of meetings today. Bit of driving around, I quite like driving and contemplating things.... it's quite relaxing.
DH is out with the boys at a birthday party, so an hours peace and quiet before they come home.0 -
Well..... We're giving the LC a miss. To do what we want was going to be around £60k. Our house would currently sell for around £230 and if we did the work it would be identical to a house that's on the market currently (and not selling, been for sale for yonks) for £265. So, it just doesn't make financial sense. I know that you can attribute an amount to benefitting from the LC but I think £60k would be pushing it too far? (LC £48k, plus remodelling of first floor, plus architects/structural engineers, cost of 2 new bathroom suites and then all of the decorating, carpets etc).
So, I guess i best go and collect the bed sheets from Next and we'll have a take away tonight to console ourselves!!

That's a shame Lulabelle but sounds like the right decision. £60K is a lot of money. Is there anything else you can do home improvement wise that's a bit cheaper. Small extension?

Ouch, that's a hell of a lot! Sorry that its not going to work out as you planned, I wouldn't do it for that sort of money either. Hope you enjoyed the takeawayMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Hi Lula, I hope your meal out or takeaway has given you and DH time to chat. You must feel pretty gutted, would a garage conversion help in any way? Or would a smaller conversion of the loft help in any way at all.
As you have powered through the mortgage last year, and your planned OPs will make a significant difference this year, would this enable you to put your house up for sale in early Spring 2014?

Sorry to hear that the LC isn't feasible financially
You're right not to do any work that will value your house just above the 3% stamp duty threshold though, however disappointing it is at the moment.

Hey fortune... It was more bedroom space that we needed really... Our garden isn't really that large, so I don't want to eat in to the space..... It'll all be fine0
