I truely admire Coupon Mad's long, detailed and calm advice given she must have to re-type it a million times.

....and me; I don't know how she does it.

    +1

The most frustrating, however, are those regular posters who spend 99% of their time on other boards who dip in here occasionally and attempt to hold forth on the subject of PPC's that they have little knowledge of. That group is closely followed by the "you've done wrong and deserve to pay" brigade.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

I copy & paste old posts of course, and I keep some links on favourites.:D

But yep, my current bugbear is how on earth to explain to people who Google and find a thread, NOT to just bump it but to just click on the board itself and read the current threads & stickies! Oh Gawd it is so easy when you know how!

But when I first used forums I didn't know that either so I am patient with people in the same 'newbie to forums' mode!

Guess it comes from working with teenagers at school who never listen to general advice in assembly and always have to hear the same info face to face. It's second nature now to just repeat the same old same old!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD
  • I must admit I took a few months off after becoming annoyed with people wanting advice and not bothering to read the stickies or bother to acknowledge people who gave up their time to give money saving advice. I nominate C-M for the MSE High-Viz tabard of honour for long service in the cause of stuffing scammers.

And when people say their story is different because it was granny driving......

I didn't say it would be a short thread... ;)

i wouldn't take it personally, i think it's just down to societal conventions that we have been exposed to all our lives. these fines/invoices or whatever look official so most of us instinctively think we need to pay them because we believe we've been caught doing something wrong by someone in authority. even when someone tells us this is not correct it might be difficult to accept that we must ignore this official looking letter.

like how people pull off cons by wearing uniforms because we grow believing that someone in a uniform holds a position of authority.

when they seem to doubt you it's because it's too good to be true what you're telling them and goes against the grain ignoring official-looking letters

    that's what i think anyway
Come on, it's not rocket surgery is it?

Especially for rattling Peter Hasbeen's cage. The PMs he sent to her really showed up the true nature of the man.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

....and Stanley Milgram proved that over 65% of us would deliver a potentially fatal electric shock to people if someone 'in authority' told us to do just that!

This is exactly why people do pay up, because they replicate and mimic and actual authority (council and Police tickets) and therefore people believe they have just that and don't question it.

Interestingly, because you brought up the subject of 'authority', that the 65% in Milgram's original experiment actual matches what we do understand end up paying PPC's in the end. I know this is a big leap, but it is very interesting that the figures are similar!!!

Also, lets not forget that Derren Brown recreated Milgram a few years ago, with very simialr results and the BBC did it a couple of years ago as well for a programme on violence... so nothing has changed in the 50 ish years since he first conducted the experiment!

and thats exactly why these scammers need to be controlled rather than be allowed to ply their nasty little trade without fear of sanction. Wise up Westminster trough feeders.
