Without wishing to upset any WWers, this is the main reason I prefer Slimming World. They don't endorse any ready meals and actively push members to make meals from scratch.
Whoever mentioned making macaroni cheese from a tin - this was in the old days of SW. Most pre-prepared foods now come in the syn category and only fresh, wholesome foods are listed as free food. Incidentally there is an allowance of 57gm wholemeal a day.
I make casseroles several times a week using only free foods and they're great for the whole family.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

I agree with you there,I prefer Slimming world, but because I have Crohn's disease I am unable to eat much fruit, veg or fibre  so doing SW is virtualy impossible for me.WW now do the core plan, which is near enough the same as SW,but they just seem all out to promote their food and nothing else,I have to say I think I have a pretty bad leader :rolleyes:Debt at highest £102k

Yep,she does come across that wayluckily I am a good cook and have lost loads of weight before  so I know what I'm doing to a degree,so I just need the kick up the behind to get me motivated, but it would be nice if she knew how to cook 'normal food'
Still can't believe how much weight I have lost in 2 weeks :j let's hope it carries onthere's lots more to go!

Snoozer (or anybody else with the current books). I'd love to know if wholemeal bread is OK as that is the one thing I really miss. I'd love to have my weekend boiled egg with soldiers. And be able to make a sandwich.
The reason white rice is not on the core plan is the high GI,WW have tweaked the no count plan and now come up with the core plan  which is more low GI food.
Just to say I have checked my little book and bread of all types is NOT included on the core plan,it has to be pointed with your  daily allowance.
Hope this helps

I beg to differ what are all those snack bars for sale at the counter? I know they are cereal bars but the are prepacked snacks. Also dried pasta with a sauce mixed with water and boiled are free, dried rice with flavour ditto and cans of beans with pasta and tomato sauce I know are free as well. These are just the sort of foods the OP is trying to avoid which I know were pushed by SW consultants. Also I have had 4 SW consultants in the last 10 years (yes I am a c**p dieter) and all have proclaimed to be the push and ping brigade. The all profess to not be able to cook - now either I have been unlucky or this is a line to convince folk that they don't have to be healthy cooks to lose weight.
I cook mainly from scratch and my weight stays around the same up a bit down a bit. I may go and look at the WW online though as that seems to be good.

WW Core plan is really simple to use
You have a huge list of core foods that you can eat as much of for your three meals a day - basically any fruit and veg, most meats, most grains, pasta, rice (not bread though) and some processed things (ryvita, tinned beans, tinned soups).
In addition, you can snack on fruit and veg if you feel hungry between meals, and you have 21 points that you can use in a week on other things - bread, crisps, chocolate, wine - up to you.
If anyone wants to see the list of allowed foods I can post it.
I am doing core on my own, using forums and the list of foods - no need to pay a subscription fee.0 -
Im on ww and have done it many times before. I am finding it much easier now as i ma making alot more from scratch and freezing meals.
I make loads of 0 point, or low soup and freeze it so I have a variety and i take this to work every day in my flask for lunch.
Good luck and make sure you write everythin down!0 -
Trow I would be interested to see if it's suitable for my partner, having a hard time finding a healthier eating plan that suits him, if you could PM me which sites etc you're using I would appreciate it (he's at work on the meetings nights locally and I would probably have to drag him kicking and screaming to get him there)One day I might be more organised...........
