Yes - olive, rape seed and other oils are allowed but I can't remember the quantity. 2tsp a day rings a bell but I'll have to check. I'm pretty sure brown rice is still allowed and possibly wholemeal bread now but I'll have to check when I get home and I'll post again with the exact details.
  • Yep, it's now called the Core Plan, and you can have 2 tsp of 'healthy oils' a day without having to count it as your weekly 21 points allowance. Avocados are now part of the fruit/veg list and white rice and rice cakes have been taken off. I find it all rather puzzling really  if it was working for you when it was called No Count then it works. I don't really see why having white rice and 2 tsp of olive oil is going to result in no weight loss

I can't understand why white pasta is OK but white rice and wholemeal bread is not. Surely the reason the No Count/Core plan works is because you stop eating; sweets, cakes, pastry, biscuits, chocolate, alcohol, butter, lard, suet, sausages, chips, crisp etc etc. Cut those out or have them insmall, occasional quantities and you're laughing .

Thanks for your advice and menu plan Alfietinker :T As regards the yogurt, I use semi-skimmed milk (I just can't get on with skimmed milk products) does that mean my yogurt is low-fat ?

I like to save points for wine too:D
  • Thriftlady From memory I think it just says 'low fat' yoghurt. Seeing as you can buy low fat yoghurts but all with different fat values then I would have thought semi skimmed milk would still be fine. Perhaps somebody will know more?

I don't get the white rice either, but I do tend to buy brown anyway so that's fine. Maybe it's because brown fills you up quicker so you don't eat as much? I'd have thought that went for pasta though too.

Snoozer (or anybody else with the current books). I'd love to know if wholemeal bread is OK as that is the one thing I really miss. I'd love to have my weekend boiled egg with soldiers. And be able to make a sandwich.

That's really good to hear about the oils. Just this morning I was asking hubby to tell me if he used oil in his cooking so I could keep tabs. I've just taken a point off of my home made soup now. :D

In the latest version of no count healthy oils are allowed (in small quantities) each day. So are avocadoes now and white rice and rice cakes have been taken off the list. They are trying to make it more GI/GL.

No white rice? That's me stuffed then - my lot won't eat the brown stuff ;)

Reminds me of another bugbear - these clubs keep changing their schemes so all the books you buy off them are out of date after a few months

I wonder if WW are still using that recipe for No Count banana polenta cake? I couldn't believe it - limitless cake! Then I cooked it and it was the most revolting thing you ever saw. I didn't dare taste it, I poured it down the toilet. That's not a typo - the cooked "cake" was literally nothing but runny grey slime
  • I have been doing WW for a few months now and have shifted nearly three stone, making everything from scratch (except bread and the occasional portion of oven chips). I don't go to a WW class but use the online classes which are £10 a month (half the price of the classes). There is a tool on the WW site called recipe builder, where you just input the recipe and it works out the points for you, for the whole thing and per portion. I find it invaluable. When you have pointed your recipe you then just save it to your recipe collection and the next time you eat that meal you can just enter it onto your points tracker online. You can also look up the points for any individual food (eg yoghurt) and it tells you the points per oz, gram, tbs, pint, fl oz or whatever. It takes a bit of getting used to but it does work really well for me. I don't go to the classes because the ones I have been to seem to be attended mostly by not very overweight people who want to eat ready meals, which WW does promote heavily. They also try and sell you ridiculously priced crisps and cereal bars which are full of rubbish. I found Slimming World classes the same.

Recoveringspendaholic that is interesting, I've looked at the WW website often but not thought of subscribing online ( I'm an At Home member). The recipe builder tool sounds just what I need to take the effort out of pointing my hm stuff. Also good news that it's cheaper than meetings ;) It's also useful to be able to find points per tbsp or whatever.

Congratulations on your fantastic weight loss :T I'm off to look into the online classes, thank you :A

Well, I've just subscribed to WW Online - there's a £5 off promotional code in the current magazine :D
So far I'm very impressed. I've started my tracker and I've used the recipe builder. It's great ! My yogurt works out at half a point per heaped tbsp and my bread is 1 point per slice. I like the meal ideas too.

Only thing is it's going to mean more time sat at the computer, and I really do enough of that already -odd really for someone who used to be scared of the things

I joined WW 2 weeks ago and am thrilled with my weight loss (10lbs) I am doing the points plan, but I find pointing the food a real chore  at the meetings the leader always passes round the packets of the latest WW product, all the people ooh and aagh about how tasty it looks,I say 'I wonder how I make it myself?' the leader gets a bit annoyed with me,she can't understand why I would want to cook it,when I can buy it already done  last week she said I obviously have too much time on my hands, charming!
I have been cooking all my food from scratch,as I always do  but have found my shopping bill has reduced slightly due to me eating smaller portions, the reduction in shopping is paying for WW,I think with careful planning and loads of forethought, you can easily do WW OS :j
I have to say I am eating really well, egg on toast, mushrooms and tomatoes for breakfast,HM soup and sandwich for lunch and lasagne made with cottage cheese on top for tea, yuuuummmmmmy!

Good heavens, how rude and ignorant !

    10 lb loss - fantastic !
  • I used to go to Rosemary Conley classes and her regime is as long as the fat is 5g or less in a 100g then you should lose weight.
I lost a stone and a half in 6 months and that was cooking from scratch. I don't use any fat at all in cooking, other than marg in cakes, and that is generally Flora Light. Everything is dry fried. If it starts to stick I bung some water in!!.
