  • Well the saga of DS1s car continues. We have taken it into the garage to have it checked and apparently we need amongst other things a new oil pump. The sump has been replaced very recently, (we're pretty sure inbetween going to see the car and picking it up - 3days, as there wasn't an oil leak when we went to have a look and OH looked underneath) but it is a real bodge job. With no oil going around the engine its a good job we haven't been using it. OH still going to work on his bike.

The garage is real old school and we've been going there for years so I'm sure they aren't trying to pull a fast one. We have tried to contact warranty people to see if we can go through warranty but they are so difficult to get through to. I've 'googled' the company and they don't get very good reports, infact they seem to be rubbish.

I have called the garage we got the car from this afternoon and the guy I spoke to was a little shifty but said to take it to the garage and see what they say. He is sure it won't be anything major!!!

I'm gutted for DS1, so much so I haven't told him its a major problem, he just thinks we are waiting for a small part which we are going to try and get replaced through the warranty........sort of the truth.

My other fear is that we have to pay out to have the car fixed and then if at all possible try and claim from the warranty people.

We are down to 'pence' in our account, although direct debits have been paid. Can't wait for OH to get paid tomorrow. We must put the money back into the emergency fund asap and build that up.

Hope we all have some sunshire tomorrow, todays weather has been pants.xx

  • Hi Alice,

Oh no to DS's car, sounds like a total nightmare! Hope you get some answers soon.

Yay to it being payday, bet thats a relief!!! xx

  • And so the car saga continues . Basically the garage we got the car from have caused the damage when they did the oil change. Its going to cost £220 to put right, I've spoken to them this morning to see if they will pay........yeah right!! or at least get a contribution. I'm waiting for a call back

On the money front, insulation company have taken payment which I'm quite relieved about to be honest, so at least I know exactly what is in the bank and what's going out and can keep a better track of it.

I need to do a meal plan/shopping list at lunchtime today and will call in to A1di on way home. Also we've got a voucher for some more of OHs blades from sburys worth £6 but it runs out today so will get them but hide them from OH.:p

Have checked my £2 coin pot and upto £36 so that means I have saved £236 in total so far this year. Thinking of doing the £2 coin sealed pot thing next year. :D

    Nearly the weekend :j xx

  • Morning Alice,

Did you hear back re the car. They should pay if they caused the flipping damage!

    Have a lovely weekend xx

  • Did you hear back re the car. They should pay if they caused the flipping damage!

Morning Mummy, yes we did . Although they have caused the damage and had offered £60 towards the repair now they are saying that the mechanic never noticed anything when he changed the sump and oil so its our word against theirs, even though we have the damaged bits. We (well DS1) has paid for the repair £220 and we got the car back yesterday. I'm so angry and frustrated about it.........think I've just got to let it go now. We haven't got the money to pursue any claim. Live and learn :(

Went to A1di and Sburys yesterday, total spend £66. Put £20 petrol in my car, took £20 cash out for football/rugby subs and OHs 5-a-side footie. That should leave me £4 but DS3 has got a cough/cold and has a temperature so need some medicine (we had a sleepless night last night with him so really don't want to go through that again tonight).

We won't have any spare money this week to put back in emergeny fund or pay DS1 towards the car. We said we'd go half on the repair to help him out and the fact that OH will be using it too. I think its only fair.

Not sure what's happening later, we've been offered some free apples from a family friends orchard and they have a minature railway that everybody can ride on. Would be a cheap afternoon out but will have to see how DS3 is. I think some fresh air will do him good and perhaps he'll sleep tonight, ...........how did I cope without a full nights sleep when they were babies???

Will get on the scales tomorrow, had a fairly good 2 weeks but the car stressed me out yesterday and I ate 2 choc bars and 2 pieces of cake at work, tut, tut, :o.

Hope everybody has a great weekend.xx

  • I expected rain this morning......we have sunshine, a pleasant surprise. :)

We did manage to get out yesterday afternoon and had a lovely time. I think the fresh air must have done DS3 the world of good as he slept all night and is a bit better this morning. He should be OK to go to school tomorrow...fingers crossed.

I think we are now on NSD 6 for this month, not too bad.

I've lost 3lb over 2 weeks so better than nothing. Will keep going though.

DS1s car has to go back the garage as it is still leaking oil....just a drop. OH has had a look and thinks it could be from the sealant. I will not let this car get too me!!!! xx

  • Hi Alice,

No dont let the car get to you, its not yours after all! Let DH and DS deal with it. Welcome to motoring to your DS!

Im glad DS3 is feeling a little bit better. Doesnt take long for the bugs to start after them going back does it!! x

  • Thanks mummy you're right, I've left OH calling the garage today to check on car and DS is getting insurance quotes as he has his test later this week....fingers crossed.

Didn't make it on here yesterday, when I got in from work yesterday we decided to take DS3 and the dog for a walk, then by the time we'd had tea, DS3 bathed and in bed and helped DS2s with homework homework it was practically bed time for all of us.

Can't seem to get the house straight at the moment and that (as I've mentioned) stresses me out. Going to sort the kitchen tonight, we've got paperwork piling up again and just generally tidying up/cleaning.

Whilst I've been typing this OH has called, its going to cost £320 to fix this oil leak on the car (another one, different to the first one). We've been done over by the garage that sold us this car . I wonder if I could pursue a claim under the sale of goods act???

Better get back to work. xx

  • And yet another problem with car, just another £40. DS1 has the money to pay and we will go halves as before.....still not sure how we will pay half at the moment. Hopefully car will be ready to be picked up tomorrow.

OH's payday tomorrow :j, yet another lean week :(.

We've got Sky and DS2s mobile direct debits to go out of the account over the next 7 days. Need to pay childminder for this week, get petrol and food.

    Hopefully October will be better.xx
