brizzledfw wrote: »Hi Alice..I am afraid I just think kids eat a lot. My OH is as lean as a bean but always used to consume vast amounts of food, usually cereal when he got home from school. Toast too. I think buying cheaper cereal is the way forward though. We are now trying 'Sunday cereal' so the expensive stuff only gets eaten at weekends..
Porridge, cornflakes, Rice Krispies and weetabix rest of week
The kids and OH are the same, they don't carry an ounce of fat.:(:rotfl:
Yes fruit and veg gets delivered to the door FOC if you spend over £10.. Which in my house ain't hard. I am not into wasting time in shops if I can help it.
Try herbs and salad first. Easy peasy and on windowsills first. Have loads of tomatoes coming on..wonder if I could post them to you? Would you like some? They in turn were passed to me by a neighbour..;-) Thanks brizzle, I know that home grown tomatoes always taste much better, I [STRIKE]should[/STRIKE] hope I'll be getting some from my Mom, thank you for the offer though.......maybe I should get on with growing some of our own!!
Try approaching neighbours..you may be surprised. Maybe they feel the same? We are now good friends with ours..helped by being in terraced houses etc. but even so I would avoid buying a new mower or paying for big repairs if you can. Going to carry on borrowing FILs.......the only thing with ours is it was a gift from my parents and it wasnt cheap...think OH could have another tinker with it.
No one knows about our debt, not even OH really. So I too have keeping up appearances issues..BUT...am now determined not to spend money on things I don't value...like household mechanical items!! :-) Oh our debt is top top secret......never been one for unnecessary gadgets.....99p tin opener does just fine:rotfl:.....but will be getting a replacement for the fridge/freezer soon!:)
Have a great weekend. Hope weather perks up.
I've pegged out but it's just started to drizzle but still really breezy....it can stay out for a bit.xxDMP with CCCS started Jan12 £34,906 Jan13 £31,893 Jan14 £26,836 Jan15 £21,894 Jan16 £16,839 Jan17 £14,415 Jan19 £12,938ish Jan19 £9,649 Jan20 £6612 Feb 21 0 Self managed from Jan'17

I tried riverford a few weeks back now but wasn't overly impressed with portion sizes and pricing plus you couldn't choose what you wanted but I'm def going to try the farm shop it would be nice to give my money to local farmers rather than the big chains. We're growing tomatoes, peppers and lettuce at the moment and the lawnmower we bought last week was a push one with no plug proper old fashioned but probably more reliable! I like the idea of the reliability of the push mower, we had one when we moved into our first house, it was my grandparents. I remember it did a lovely cut and obviously never let us down
, gave it to my sister and BIL when they got their first house, they only had it a few months and my BIL gave it to the scrap man . I never told my grandfather, he would of been gutted and I've never forgiven my BIL......:(:o
We went to watch DS2 play cricket this morning. Although I'd taken some food OH decided he wanted a bacon sandwich, not normally a problem but he didn't realise how much they were until they done them. Sandwiches x 3 and some toast for DS3 and tea and coffee - £13.00.
When we got back, as folk did not need feeding I got on with some housework, tidied DS3s bedroom so now you can see his carpet! Sorted some bits for car boot/ebay.....plenty more where that came from just need to sort it when DS3s not about.
All the ironing done and put away. Helped DS2 sort his clothes out found some stuff we can put on ebay rather than car boot, brand new branded dressing gown, t-shirts and jeans that have only been worn a few times and he's grown out of them.
We had piri-piri chicken, jackets and salad for tea.....no jacket for me, decided I've got to try and be good. We've run out of dishwasher powder so back to washing up. Made the sandwiches for tomorrow, and my lunch - tuna salad.
Money all sorted for the week - DS3 beavers and milk money, DS2s bus money and OHs football money and paper money for the Sun (he's collecting the legoland vouchers).
I checked out 'A girl called Jack', some of the receipes looked good and I could adapt them for us.......there's no 'just 1 burger' for our kids! But I also found it quite inspirational so this has spurred me on (again!) to keep on top of our food spends.
Hope everybody has a good week.xxDMP with CCCS started Jan12 £34,906 Jan13 £31,893 Jan14 £26,836 Jan15 £21,894 Jan16 £16,839 Jan17 £14,415 Jan19 £12,938ish Jan19 £9,649 Jan20 £6612 Feb 21 0 Self managed from Jan'17

Monday lunchtime already.:)
I've just requested a 4 minute shower timer and a 2minute tooth brush timer FOC from our water supplier.......hope we get them, DS2 is in the shower for what seems like hours at the moment!!!
Also OH's phone seems OK now, well since Saturday afternoon when we went into the 0range shop. He can change his phone on his current contract on 9th June, if he wants to change it sooner he'll have to pay £40 .....I don't think so.
I've pegged out today but its soooooo windy I'll be retrieving it from up the road at this rate, hehehe.

Worth checking it out DFW, one minute we couldn't get DS2 in the shower and now he's in for ages. Also like the idea of the tooth brush timer, I'm a bit a stickler when it comes to the kids brushing their teeth.:oBaileys_Babe wrote: »Have you saved the photo's and contacts now it's working?brizzledfw wrote: »Glad you liked a Girl called Jack..but agree portion sizes are way off beam for me..me and girls demolished the entire burger supply in a sitting AND I have just had 2 slices of toast and jam as I was starving!
I just found the whole blog inspiring, I definately need a kick up the back side where our food bill and meal planning are concerned........and growing our own.:rotfl:

Yesterday was a NSD, number 3. I was hoping today would be too but we've run out of bread.....so will get some on the way home but that should be it!!....infact might ask OH to get some later I just can't be trusted to walk into a shop and just pick up 2 loaves of bread.:o
Healthy eating plan going OKish, apart from I had 4 rich tea biscuits with a cup of tea whilst watching TV last night. I'm going to take the dog for her walk tonight...really must make more of an effort to exercise more.:o

We've had our car insurance renewal in the post today. Price quoted for 12 months - £560:eek:. Will double check the details for the price I got on the comparison site which was only £220........that is a much better deal.
Window cleaner came today - £10, haven't paid him yet (he'll be back for his money).....OH quite capable of getting up the ladders but 'keeping up appearances' and all that.;)
OH have gone to get some bread and put £10 petrol in DS1s car as he needs to use it tomorrow night.....DS2 supposed to have cricket match but the weather is not looking good.
Washing dried today, DS2 managed to get it in before it rained, but I have to say its quite chilly tonight.....feels like October......but we are not putting the heating on.
