I don't have any rent to pay. I've been mortgage free for nearly 3 years.

This thread has sort of morphed from bf onto yourself, bs.

It must be difficult managing on the little amount you receive each month, although I totally understand your desire to be at home for your children. Although you were turned down for WTC, can you not still apply for CTC on your low income.

Out of interest, how did you manage to go from IS to owning and being mortgage free in a couple of years?

I would love to move out of our council house, but we're adequately housed [three of us, three bedrooms], and unless I win the lotto, we couldn't buy a house, and renting privately worries me.

Do you not get fed up with managing on such a small amount each month? Although, I suppose not having to pay rent / mortgage is a bonus.

    Regards
    Pipkin xxxx

I suppose it's adapting so that you can manage. I manage on the money I get from IS - like you I have no debt. We go on a couple of holidays each year, the girls don't miss out and I manage to save regularly each month.

However, there are things we are not able to do, because the money is not available to do it. Although you can manage - and hats off to you - wouldn't extra income increase your and your childrens quality of life?

When I first started coming on this board I was on income support and didn't have a job and everyone had a go at me for claiming benefit. Now everyones having a go at me for NOT claiming it

    Thanks.
It was a matter of opinion as to whether you should work or not b-s. The issue now is that you are not claiming what you are entitled to. A bit like when you were on IS, if you'd also said you weren't claiming council tax benefit or free school dinners for example we'd have asked you why not.
