    It is illegal for an employer to refuse to give you a payslip. Apart from anything else, how do you know you are coded correctly?

    If you are an employee, you have a right to get payslips from your employer showing how your pay has been calculated. They may be needed if there is a problem in future and they are a useful record of how much tax you have paid. If you have any problem getting wageslips from your employer, you can contact ACAS for advice (sorry can't link, ACAS website is scrunched up and down at the moment)

    Your payslip must show:
    • The gross amount of the wages or salary;
    • The amount of any fixed deductions and the purposes for which they are made. For example, this could be trade union subscriptions or National Savings scheme contributions;
    • The total figure for fixed deductions, when a separate statement of the details has been provided;
    • The amounts of any variable deductions and the purposes for which they are made;
    • The net amount of any wages or salary payable;
    • The amount and method of each part payment when individual elements of the net amount are paid in different ways. For example, you would expect to see the separate figures of a cash payment or a balance credited to a bank account.

    Ok, that makes sense. It still seems unfair that she is not receiving wtc with a low wage.

    I dont understand how you manage to survive on that BS, you must me something special, my rent and council tax per month is near on £400 then my bills etc how do you have any money left after paying them if you only get £660pm :confused:

  • Well actually I bring home £660 a month and get child benefit. I don't get tax credits, housing benefit or any other benefit.
    Do you not even claim council tax benefit?

    ETA: based on your current income, a quick calculation on http://entitledto.com says you would be entitled to approx £125 a week in WTC/CTC. How can you not want or even afford not to claim what you're entitled to?? :confused:

    The question was "will he get anything working 10 hours a week" - answer is probably not, He will need to work less for IC and more for CTC, if his child is in full time education then he is still entitled to claim CTC for her until she is 19 in full time study and she must be or she would not be getting full EMA.

    Actually, it's 20 now, if the young person turned 19 after 4th April 2005.

    So if she did three years of further education, full-time study then she could get another year of CB and CTC.

    As she is 16 and still in full-time education, she's sill classed as a minor for benefits purposes. There are no other benefits that she can claim for herself.

    My DH earns enough to put him in a higher tax bracket but I am still entitled to CTC of £545p.a (£10 a week). It starts going down when you reach about £50K and stops completely around £58K. Don't really understand why you aren't claiming black-saturn :confused:

    When I first started coming on this board I was on income support and didn't have a job and everyone had a go at me for claiming benefit. Now everyones having a go at me for NOT claiming it :confused:

    The thread was meant to be about my bf's reduction in hours at work. The problem has been sorted out and he has been offered a managerial job. So if you would like to discuss my finances please PM me or start a new thread.

    Thanks.
