So you keep saying. You obviously don't need it otherwise you would claim it. Presumably you earn enough to keep you and your family, no doubt with the addition of child benefit and possibly tax credits. This is how it should be.
Well actually I bring home £660 a month and get child benefit. I don't get tax credits, housing benefit or any other benefit.

Yes until people started the usual "benefit scrounger" posts.

Hi BS - can I ask, is it through principle you don't claim the benefits you are entitled to. I have often read comments where you say you don't claim them although you only earn £660 a month.

To be honest, I pick up more than you on IS [we both have 2 girls] and, although you are very good in cutting down your weekly food shop, wouldn't your - and your children's - quality of life be even better than what it is now if you had more money coming in.

Sometimes, when I read your comments about not claimimg the benefits, it comes across as you wanting a pat on the back because you don't claim off the state - and it can't be because you don't want to accept handouts, because you accept the child benefit.

Maybe I just read your posts wrong, but if you are entitled to the money - just like you are entitled to child benefit - why not claim? It doesn't make you a bad person to accept WTC or CTC.

I haven't asked to cause offence or confrontation, so please don't take any. I am genuinely interested in why you wont accept what you are entitled to, especially knowing how expensive it can be bringing up children.

With regards your BF, he can claim CTC until his daughter is 19 whilst she is in full time education.

    Kind regards

B-S I had absolutely no idea you weren't claiming your tax credits when you mentioned not claiming a particular benefit. People can and do claim Child tax credit upto an income of around £50K, so there should be no shame in you doing so.

Give them a ring and ask them to send an application form.

The other thought I've had re your bf. Can you fetch your plans to move in together forward so you can pool resources and one of you could become the bread-winner, or is it not possible due to his daughter

I've filled in a claim form in the past and have been regected for WTC due to the fact that one of my employers won't give me a proper wage slip for what I do. I'm fine as I am at the moment though.

We can't live together sadly until at least June 2008 due to the fact that his very stubborn daughter simply can't do her A levels here and keeps saying that the school she's going to is far better than any one here (even though I got seven A levels at grade A at a school here).

But I don't want to hijack the thread with talking about me.

It seems unfair that you are not getting tax credits. With two children you must be entitled to a reasonable amount on your income. I do hope this can be resolved in some way for you.

Is it not possible for you to get a higher paid job with all these qualifications?

I believe b-s is making a line between WTC and CTC. I am sure I have seen her post that she receives CTC, which is entirely as it should be.

I have only ever been asked for figures from my P60 for tax credits.
