Old Style Daily Thread for Sunday 6th November 2011
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 6th November 2011 . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all,
Blimey its early for me on a sunday , dd is being picked up for work at 5.45 so I had to get up and make sure she was up, might go back for 40 winks later.
Will start the wm off later on, need to do bedding today, , also need to hoover through.
Dinner today will be the 'free' steak from sainbugs, will do some jacket spuds and roasted tomatoes with it, will do dd a bit of mash as she doesn't like jackets.
Other than that, we might go the the afternoon boot sale, and take little dog for a walk, its out villages fireworks tonight, which dd is going to with her friends, but the dog will be terrified, she spent most of last night under the the clothes airer in amongst the washing hiding from the 'bangs', bless her
Ok need more tea,
Bramble hope today goes as well as possible xx

Bramble - love and hugs to you xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Morning all, Hope you're having a good weekend. Yesterday we had to empty our bedroom of everything, including the wardrobes so we could have a new carpet put down. Cue massive clear out! Managed to do all the washing too - and had it out on the line. Have just put some of it in the TD so that it finishes drying. All the heavy items like jeans are on the airer though.
Turkey legs for lunch today - yummy. Have to sort out the dried washing and do the ironing today ready for another week at school! Need to hoover through and tidy up. Jumble sale to help with at school tomorrow so will see if there is anything else I can find to donate.Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning Redruby and all who post. Another early start for me and I can't fathom why I'm waking up this early at the weekend. I don't feel tired, but I didn't have espresso yesterday as I did the day before - odd. Not much planned here, but am definitely planning to watch the MotoGP. We always do anyway, and I want to remember Marco Simoncelli, bless him. I shall miss him.
We had a lovely walk last night. We just walked around the block and saw all the pretty fireworks people were setting off. The sky was hazy with different colours of smoke which was unusual and very pretty. It'll probably be the same tonight, but I don't know whether we'll go out in it. Otherwise I think there's a bit of ironing planned for me today, some tidying up, and I'm making a big lasagne and another batch of gnocchi to freeze for lunches in the future. As it was I remembered I had to pop to the corner shop and pay over the odds for a tin of tomatoes. I'll never be unprepared again!
Have a good day everyone.
Bramble - thinking of you (hugs)

Good Morning x
Sending love and hugs to Bramble and Taplady x x
Feeling tired and under-the-weather so might not get much done but will try hard xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all:D
Have been up since 6am with Boo, and as you all know I don't do mornings:eek::eek:She is currently in her room playing [STRIKE]trashing the joint[/STRIKE], so i'm having a brew and trying to wake up:o
The fireworks looked lovely last night, but kept Boo awake and scared the crap out of the doglets:mad::mad:
We ate the 2005 parched peas and are fine up to now:D:DOH has never had them before, so i'm wondering if it's a Lancs thing:p

Morning everyone,
Lots of love and hugs to Bramble, Taplady, Molly and Lou and anyone else that I have missed.
Our bonfire party went really well last night, lots of fireworks, food and wine! Everyone left by 11 which was good as we all have an early start today.
DS has a rugby match away and DD1 and DD2 are playing in the church band before DD2 has to rush away for another netball tournament.
Ds also has his youth group this evening so no early night for me!
I have just received a list of all DD2s netball matches this season and there are loads of them! I will have to work out a lift share with someone.
Tea tonight will be beef casserole and mash, it is that sort of weather!
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Hi everyone; at last, I am over that awful bug, so now I'm playing catch-up with all the chores that I had no energy to do last week.
No fireworks here in France; it's one of the many things I miss!
It's been pouring with rain here for the last day and a half, so no chance of getting washing on the line. It's just as well because on Friday next door's not-very-well-looked-after dog pulled most of the washing off the line, scattering broken clothes pegs everywhere! At least it was a dark wash, mainly DH's work clothes, but I'd have been hopping mad if it had been towels and teatowels. I now have to decide whether to complain to the local mayor about the dog. It roams everywhere, gets into everyone's gardens leaving its calling card, and torments the cows on the farm nearby. I almost ran it over yesterday, too. The French care very little for their animals which really annoys me. As we are the only English people in the village, I am reluctant to be the one who complains, so I shall see what some of the other neighbours think first! The people the dog belongs to drive like maniacs, too, so I don't think it will be long before they're run it over themselves. He's a cute and friendly little rough-haired Jack Russell, and I know it's not his fault, sadly.
Anyway, dinner tonight will be pork chops in leek, garlic and creme fraiche sauce, with broccoli and potatoes. Pudding will be the same as last night - bananas, icecream, and hot chocolate sauce (made by mixing Nutella (well, Lidl's own) and milk and heating it up in the microwave - delicious.
I hope you all have a good day, and lots of hugs to those who are unwell or stressed.

Morning All
Looks like we have another grey day here.
Our Fireworks party went well last night and we finished letting off fireworks at 9pm (We have a lot of old people and animals around here) but some people didn't finish until 1am.
Our house rabbit doesn't flick an ear at fireworks, he just lays calmly in his hutch.
I have put some washing in the machine and will have to put it on the airers to dry, I know it is not OS but I am seriously thinking of getting another TD, it is all very well not using it in the Summer but the Winter is another story.
Dinner tonight is Roast Chicken and all the trimmings with an apple sponge and custard for dessert because I have a lot of apples that need using up.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Good morning everyone.
Mioliere, glad your feeling better.
TiredMum, congratulations to your DS on passing the medical :T.
Very overcast here today. I want to hoover right through the house today. Didn't do it yesterday as DH was in bed, he works shifts. By the time he was up and we had tea, fireworks had started to be let off. The dog was shaking from head to foot, so i spent most of the time with him making sure he was ok. The last ones were probably let off by 9 o clock but i wasn't starting my housework at that time. Dinner will be chicken cooked in the slow cooker, with veg. Plenty more ironing to do.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them. Especially to Bramble, Molly, Taplady and Lou.
