I've been having loads of problems trying to get on this site the last few days as well so that's very frustrating

Well,I'm really fed up.sad and angry today !!!!

Got a call from Preston hospital today to say that they are cancelling my radiotherapy (due to start tomorrow) as per request of my oncologist and that I'd be getting an appointment through the post to see him.
I then phoned to speak to his secretary but she was on her lunch break so left a message with another secretary for her to call me.
Put the phone down and it rang straight away..it was my oncologist to say that after looking at the scans/speaking to Preston team he wants to have a team meeting at Blackpool hospital to discuss my treatment as Preston team seem to think I need to have chemo before rads.He also said he wants to see me in clinic next thursday and he would explain the rationale etc and that his secretary would phone me with the appt.
Just spoke to her and will see him at 12.30 next thurs.

I am so angry and upset that this is happening as they have had months to sort all this crap out.

    Hi Taxi

Wol is "uncloaking" slightly earlier than planned but I've been following you all this time I've been incommunicado and I really feel the need to post now.

    Pants on "IT" coming back.
Double pants on the need for more treatment.
But "holy moley pants" on this latest confusion. I feel a Victor Meldrew coming on....."UNBELIEVABLE".

Hugs Hun - stay strong please.

I'm so sorry you are having to go through all of this angst.. It's not fair, you have enough to cope with - but clearly there is some "contraversy" about your treatment. Don;t take this the wrong way - they are clearly all going to be arguing for your best interests....and actually it;s good they are all so concerned.

I'll be back on line now - and if you want a chat you can always ring me - phone number is the same.....(for the immediate future)......I'll update my own thread soonish

Keeping you in my thoughts....(and the piggies are sending you encouraging wheeks!)

You are not...and NEVER WILL BE....alone in this.

    Much love

Wol I'm so pleased you are back.I've missed you so much and will phone you for a chat..

RE..the recurrence I did question my oncolgist at the time about having chemo and he said it was like taking a hammer to crack a walnut and that radiotherapy would do the trick.
I think their confusion of which way to treat me stems from a couple of things.
    (1) When I had the operation in July and the various MDT meetings were happening at each one there would be at least one of the main team missing so their input was missing. At one in particular, the one that they discussed my treatment plan the top oncolgist was on holiday so think his critical input was missing.
    (2) At my rads planning scan they were hoping not to have to redo radiotherapy on any of the area previously done but it turns out that they need to cover more than they would like in that area as well as the other massive new area.

Somebody (I don't know who) on the team at Preston is unhappy that I've not had chemo before these rads and also at the size of the area that needs redoing.

My oncolgist has arranged for me to be discussed at tomorrows MDT meeting and I will see him next thursday at clinic. He said that he would explain the rationale behind everything when I see him so yet again I'm in limbo.
I know it's in my best interests but feel seriously annoyed that my planning scans were about 18 days ago and rads were booked for tomorrow. Why only now have they discovered this?
Guess I'll not know fully until next thursday what is happening and I hope they are quick to set something in motion as it's only my life at risk at the end of the day

I know you haven't got the energy but I would complain about this, its not been fair to you, you think you know where you are and I guessed planed around that now you have to wait again.
On the positive its good that they are checking everything to the letter, but I really hope you get it sorted soon.

Thanks...I intend to put a complaint in when I have the energy and can think straight. If I'm thinking straight then I can make a much more constructive complaint.
I agree it's good that they are checking everything but that should have been done in the 1st place.I dread to think the outcome if whoever the observant person was hadn't voiced their opinion.
I really do need to find out the rationale behind all these comings and goings before lodging my complaint though.
